AKA Design helps The Farm rise in Manchester

AKA Design has been awarded the studio furniture contract for The Farm Group’s new 25,000 sq ft facility in the heart of Manchester. ‘Farm Manchester’ will open this October, offering editing, sound, VFX and grading, with AKA providing all of the studio furniture.
AKA has designed and built every studio desk for The Farm Group since it opened the doors on its first facility in London’s Soho Square, over 20 years ago. AKA Design’s Managing Director, Guy Wilson, comments, “We have a great working relationship with The Farm, who are always pushing us to design practical, stylish and innovative furniture for all of their facilities. Most recently, we installed 60 rise-and-fall offline editing desks at the group’s Newman Street facility in London, which was Europe’s single biggest post house built last year, along with six new custom curved Avid S6 audio desks made from walnut, leather and aluminium. For this latest project in Manchester’s city centre, we’re supplying 25 rise-and-fall edit, grading, finishing and VFX desks, which will provide a comfortable working experience for Farm Manchester’s staff and clients. This way of working is becoming increasingly popular, due to it proven health benefits of not staying in the same position while working, especially for those in the editing community who often work long hours.”
Farm Manchester will offer close workflow collaboration with the group’s other creative post-production facilities in London, Bristol and L.A., making it ideal for broadcast and commercials customers. The Farm Group’s Chief Executive, David Klafkowski, explains, “Opening in Manchester is something our clients want and have asked us to do, since drama producers are desperate for a local post-production facility in the city.
“The Farm has worked closely with AKA for over 20 years. Guy and his team have created our studio furniture for over 200 of our rooms including edit suites, grading theatres, audio studios, reception and production desks. Their work always manages to be original, practical, on time and most importantly on budget.”
