Amino, the global media and entertainment technology solutions provider, is to provide advanced hybrid devices to support Swisscom Broadcast Ltd, a company within the Swisscom Group, with the delivery of their new TV-as-a-Service (TvaaS) 2.0 platform.

This new platform will allow cable operators and Internet Service Providers in Switzerland to cost-effectively transition to next-generation multiscreen TV services. Consumers will enjoy access to over 600 national and international channels – and a cloud-based replay store with more than 100,000 video assets – delivered with an advanced content discovery engine and personalised user experience.

Amino will provide Swisscom Broadcast with its Aria 7 hybrid devices, running ENABLE software, which provide a DVB-C tuner and support for a legacy Conditional Access System (CAS). This allows operators to re-use their current linear broadcast and augment it with interactive services offered over IP using DASH streaming to deliver a flexible cable and IP hybrid environment.

Amino’s ENGAGE service assurance capabilities will be included in the device to provide Swisscom Broadcast with software management, remote support, device control, and service metrics and analytics – allowing them to gain real-time insight into exactly how devices in the field are performing. In addition, ENGAGE supports customer self-install – a key factor in driving down operator deployment costs.

The complete solution will be demonstrated by Swisscom Broadcast on the Amino booth (7 A-51) at ANGA COM 2018, which runs from June 12-14 in Cologne. To book a demonstration, attendees can go to info@aminocom.com.

Olivier Anthamatten, Head of Business Development, Swisscom Broadcast Ltd, says: “In Amino, Swisscom Broadcast has found a set-top box supplier able to deliver solutions that helps us to extend our offering to cable operators that want to have no worries about technology, but want to stay ahead in features for their customers. With the TVaaS 2.0 launch Swisscom Broadcast will be equipped to handle current and on-going transformations of the industry, and meet the rapidly changing requirements”

Donald McGarva, Amino’s Chief Executive, notes: “Operators are looking at a viable and flexible path to take advantage of the promise offered by next generation TV services. Working closely with Swisscom Broadcast provides a compelling solution that meets the key speed to market and flexibility requirements along with a depth of value added benefits that allow operators to build a better subscriber experience along with valuable new service insights.”
