Tedial, the leading independent MAM technology solutions specialist, has announced that its Business Solution Director, Julián Fernández-Campón, has been tapped to present a session at SMPTE 2018 Bits By The Bay. This year’s event is devoted to helping practitioners and technologists prepare for the changing media landscape by creating flexible media facilities that will meet unanticipated future challenges. Fernández-Campón’s presentation, “Evolving MAM in the Cloud”, will focus on the challenges of making MAMs “cloud-native”, and the resulting benefits. Bits By The Bay, SMPTE Washington DC Section’s Annual Technology Conference, will take place on May 23rd & May 24th at the Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Tedial is also a sponsor of the event.
A premier media technology conference in the Mid-Atlantic area, Bits By The Bay recruits senior technologists and thought-leaders to present a high-level mix of training and workshops on the latest developments and forthcoming technologies. Attendees represent a wide range of local professional media end-users and also come from as far away as New York and other distant regions.
“Bits By The Bay is a prestigious event that addresses issues critical to the growth and success of media companies,” said Esther Mesas, Tedial CSO and CMO. “The educational sessions are led by thought-leaders that shape the future of the industry, and we are proud that our own Business Solution Director is included in this prominent and influential group of presenters. Julián’s vast knowledge of MAM architecture and its place in the cloud will help attendees prepare their MAMs today to work optimally with the inevitable change coming tomorrow.”
Fernández-Campón’s presentation will explore and contrast the aspects of operating MAMs in the cloud with managing and processing media on the premises. He will discuss the challenges that impact evolving platforms, and break the transition into stages that range from architecting the MAM so it can be deployed in the cloud at a reasonable cost, to re-architecting for micro-services. He will also identify the technical challenges and delve into details regarding the real benefits such as flexibility, multi-site operation, hybrid cloud, and zero-downtime when a MAM is in its native cloud.
