NEP UK APPOINTS NEW COMMERCIAL AND TECHNICAL LEADS

NEP UK, the leading provider of outside broadcasting, fixed rig, remote production and media workflow solutions, has appointed a raft of new commercial and technical leads who will be key to accelerating growth within the expanding divisions of the world renowned company.

Richard Lancaster has been appointed as the new Commercial Director of NEP UK. Having worked at NEP as Technical Projects manager since 2017, Lancaster’s client roster includes a host of high profile event productions, from global sports including Wimbledon and leading football league productions, to monumental commemorative productions including the recent Royal Weddings and numerous events held at London’s Westminster Abbey.

Lancaster said, “As Commercial Director, I will continue to create and develop lasting relationships with new and existing clients based on a superior service from our global teams. This all boils down the work we put into staying one step ahead; updating workflows, maintaining the best level of service to our clients, whilst always aiming to improve to build a better environment for both clients and staff.”

Having also joined NEP in 2017 as Technical Projects Manager, Daragh Bass takes a key role heading up Sales for the Media Solutions division, the UK’s leading company specialising in delivering managed service contracts encompassing thousands of hours of live unscripted meeting coverage every year to ‘no fail’ standards. Bass was responsible for developing a new ‘Edit and Ingest’ business unit within the NEP Group, successfully nurturing from start-up to multi-million dollar turnover within a year.

In his new role, he is charged with identifying and delivering new business opportunities for the group-wide Media Solutions portfolio. With a global team, and focused on driving efficiency via innovation, the division specialises in offering bespoke technology offerings include centralised production, virtualised editing, and Mediabank, NEP’s cloud-based MAM system, along with its award-winning AR graphics solutions.

Bass explained, “In a time when production demands change almost daily, my role is to deliver multiple PaaS and SaaS projects, based on centralised and virtualised production technologies, offering the latest technology innovations in an agile and scalable commercial model.”

Malcolm Cowan has also been appointed as the new Head of Technology at NEP Bow Tie, part of NEP Media Solutions division and the wider NEP Worldwide Network. Cowan brings over 32 years’ of broadcast experience to the role, including running the post production for major overseas events ranging from Olympic Games to World Cups, and played a crucial role in the BBC coverage of London 2012. .

Prior to joining NEP, Cowan was Head of Technology for the cutting-edge BT Sport Production Hub, working closely with BT Sport and their contracted production partners to adapt and develop facilities and workflows to suit programme needs as well as long term ambitions for the business and brand.

There remains a significant opportunity to further highlight the company’s sophisticated solutions, particularly as it looks to transition to IP and remote workflows. I’m excited to join such an iconic brand and look forward to collaborating with customers to future-proof workflows.”
