New BLAM features released for BroadcastAsia2018 increase creative productivity in edit by 50%

Blue Lucy has enhanced their BLAM plug-in for Adobe Premiere with new features focused on reducing administrate overhead for creative operators. The new functions, which are already available to BLAM users, will be will be showcased at BroadcastAsia2018.

The BLAM Adobe Premiere plug-in provides access to all the core asset and workflow management features of Blue Lucy’s media operations management software from within Adobe Premiere. With the plug-in, users may import media, search for existing media, manage bins, workspaces and Premiere projects as well as render, export and trigger downstream workflows such as approval and delivery.

Now Blue Lucy has introduced Task Management and Metadata Markers – two new, key features which ensure that editors’ efforts are spent creatively and provide production managers with the visibility they need to ensure the smooth and efficient running of a facility.

Including BLAM Task Management in the Adobe plug-in means that an editor can now manage their workload and priorities from a single interface. Because editing tasks are included in the BLAM workflow, editors are notified as soon as upstream tasks (such as logging or shot listing) are complete and the material is ready in Adobe. Downstream tasks (such as review and approval or compliance) may then be triggered by the editor, when ready.

The Plug-in now also natively utilises the Premiere Pro Markers capability, allowing any comment markers that an editor sets on the time-line to be persisted with the source clip or project sequence in the BLAM. The implementation is bi-directional - which means that shot logging commentary made in the logging view of BLAM will also appear in Premiere. This capability makes the editing process more focused on the creative as shot logging can take place ahead of edit through the BLAM’s web-based interface.

“The BLAM plug-in for Adobe Premiere was already market leading in terms of functionality and now we have pushed it to one louder,” said Blue Lucy founder, Julian Wright.“The new features are focused on streamline operations, enabling editors to focus on creativity and production managers to ensure smooth operations with maximum visibility. Early evidence from a customer deployment has shown a fifty percent reduction in administrate overhead in the edit suite.”

The updated Adobe panel will be demonstrated at BroadcastAsia2018 from 26-28 June by Blue Lucy’s integration partner, Ideal Systems on stand 6F04. Visitors to the Ideal Systems stand will also be able to get a sneak preview of the new BLAM UI and API scheduled for release in September 2018.
