New firmware for JVC CONNECTED CAM cameras enables Apple ProRes 422 recording to SSD

JVCKENWOOD will be demonstrating a range of content creation and image display products at this year’s ISE show (JVC stand M115 in Hall 1), plus will show its camcorder range at the KitPlus show in London at the end of this month. From CONNECTED CAM live streaming camcorders and studio systems to the latest 8K e-shift home cinema and visualisation projectors and 4K monitors, JVC products deliver exceptional imagery with reliable performance.

DLA-RS3000 and DLA-NX9 projectors

JVC’s new DLA-RS3000 and DLA-NX9 projectors are equipped with 8K e-shift technology and are the world's first home theatre projectors that achieve 8K display, rivalling reality. In addition to detailed imagery exceeding 4K, they also combine high brightness, high contrast and wide colour gamut, to create stunningly realistic images. The DLA-RS3000 will be demonstrated in a theatre on the JVC stand at ISE.

Class-leading visualisation projectors

JVC offers class-leading projection solutions for simulation and visualisation, designed especially for demanding applications and delivering exceptional images with long-life operation. The latest DLA-VS4600 visualisation projector will be demonstrated on the stand at ISE 2020; this is a native 4K model with 4000 ANSI lumens brightness. It features JVC’s exclusive laser-hybrid illumination system and frame-encoded dynamic laser control, ideal for high quality imaging and simulation systems.

The DLA-VS47NV and DLA-VS45NV projectors include a new dedicated IR-LED engine for stimulated NVG exercises. All three visualisation projectors at ISE feature three-chip D-ILA imagers, BLU-Escent laser/phosphor illumination, greater than 15,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz frame rate, and native DCI 4K resolution (4096x2160), with the DLA-VS47NV adding an addressable 8K e-shift mode. The DLA-VS47NV and DLA-VS45NV deliver 3000 ANSI lumens brightness.

CONNECTED CAM content creation solutions

Also on display at ISE and KPS London will be JVC’s range of content creation solutions, including the new GY-HC500 and GY-HC550 4K handheld camcorders, with class-leading streaming and IP connectivity, which are both now shipping. The innovative camcorders feature a large 1\" 4K CMOS sensor for creative image control, customisable auto focus plus a newly-developed 20x lens, delivering exceptional imagery with great production flexibility. Ideal for filmmaking, production and live events, the camcorders feature unparalleled IP connectivity, with live streaming, FTP file transfer and remote camera control.

The latest firmware upgrade, available free to existing customers, lets the cameras record to both SSD and SD media in a wide variety of formats, including 10-bit Apple ProRes 422 at 4K 50/60p to SSD. It also features HEVC/H.265 live streaming via the KA-EN200 encoder, automatic background FTP clip uploading, RTMPS protocol support, SRT advanced streaming and a low latency mode.

There’s also a new firmware upgrade for JVC’s GY-HC900 broadcast camcorder, available in ENG and studio configurations, which adds Apple ProRes 422 recording and backup mode recording to an SSD drive. The v3.0 update also enables HEVC/H.265 live streaming via the KA-EN200 H.265/HEVC streaming encoder, which is an adapter that can be inserted directly into a slot on the GY-HC500, GY-HC550 and GY-HC900 camcorders, supporting up to 1920x1080 resolution and reducing network bandwidth by half compared to H.264. Other added features include support of SRT protocol, Network Time Protocol, plus integrated broadcast overlay graphics.

The GY-HC900 features three 2/3\" CMOS image sensors for full HD imagery, as well as an HDR mode, plus offers enhanced connectivity for a complete news-over-IP workflow solution. The GY-HC900RCHE studio camcorder, with full streaming and recording capabilities, integrates seamlessly with the JVC FS-900 camera module for an affordable fibre-based studio solution.

JVC will demonstrate its CONNECTED CAM STUDIO portable live production and streaming systems, designed for live events such as sports, theatre and music, education and house of worship. The self-contained ‘control rooms’ feature a production switcher with either four or six IP inputs (KM-IP4100 and KM-IP6000 respectively) for connecting cameras such as the KY-PZ100 robotic PTZ IP production models. The systems support NDI®, as well as the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) streaming protocol. CONNECTED CAM STUDIO also provides features for live sports production, including automated multi-channel instant replay, slo-mo and an integrated sports CG for scores and timers.

New large format displays plus DT-U Series prototype monitors

JVC will demonstrate a number of new UHD/4K studio and production monitors at ISE, to meet the growing demand for affordable 4K monitoring solutions in production and broadcast environments. Two new models added to JVC’s DT-U Series are the DT-U17 and DT-U24 (17\" 8-bit and 24\" 10-bit panel displays respectively) featuring 4K UHD native resolution. Ideal for critical video applications in the studio and on location, the monitors feature 14-bit image processing to ensure high quality image processing and display. A new zero latency image processing mode offers minimal delay, ideal for lip sync monitoring, whilst a multi-view mode enables four images to be reproduced on the screen, from one 4K and three HD inputs. This multi-view function is also available as a free update for existing customers.

The JVC stand will also feature new 55", 65\" and 75\" large format UHD displays, built for indoor digital signage applications. The GM-55A, GM-65A and GM-75A feature a clever System on Chip (SoC) system to enable the monitors to be used for both offline designed content and cloud-based managed content.
