RISE women in broadcast mentoring scheme wins Women and rsquo;s Mentoring Award at National Mentoring Awards 2019

Rise, a non-profit advocate group for gender diversity within the broadcast manufacturing and services sector, took home its first award, the National Women’s Mentoring Award, at the National Mentoring Awards held March 1st, 2019.

Beginning in 2018, the free to join mentoring scheme was founded to open opportunity for female broadcast professionals in non-craft roles through holding quarterly networking events, seminars, and of course the yearly mentoring programme. The mentoring scheme benefits 20 brilliant, talented women each year who are either currently working in or aspiring to work in the broadcasting technology sector. Mentees also benefit from one-to-one mentor contact and monthly meetings with their mentor.
Rise was recognised by the National Mentoring Awards because of its tireless efforts to inspire and guide young professionals within the broadcasting technology sector. Chelsey Baker Founder and CEO National Mentoring Awards quoted, "The National Mentoring Awards matter because they recognise the life changing work of mentors across the UK and from all sectors of business, education and society. We are proud to be able to honour them and celebrate their achievements."
When asked about the win, Rise Director Carrie Wootten stated, “I am absolutely delighted that the Rise Mentoring Programme has won this award. It is recognition of the impact that the mentoring programme had on our mentees and our mentors involved last year, and then in turn, how this has benefitted the wider broadcast manufacturing and services sector. It was a truly inspirational evening and wonderful to be amongst organisations delivering such fantastic programmes. I am really looking forward to reading the applications for this year’s scheme and would like to thank all of our industry sponsors and partners for supporting us and enabling this to happen.”
Sponsors for Rise include Avid, imagen, Clear-Com, NEP, dpp, Pixelogic, Bubble Agency and CVP. Rise is actively seeking industry sponsors for 2019. The 2019 Rise Mentoring programme is still open for applications until March 29th. The programme will run from May to November 2019.
