Ateme to Showcase Video Compression Innovations at SMPTE Media Technology Summit

Ateme, a global leader in video compression and delivery solutions, will take center stage with video compression innovations at the SMPTE Media Technology Summit, which brings together film-technology experts to discuss the latest solutions to industry challenges. Two papers written or co-written by Ateme will be presented during the session: Video Codecs and Encoding: Film Grain Modeling for HEVC Decoders, Context-Aware Encoding, Hybrid Codecs

Session details:

Both presentations offer industry leaders the invaluable opportunity to gain firsthand access to emerging trends and innovations that are crucial to their decision-making processes.

 

When: The session will begin with Dan Grois's presentation at 10 am (PST) on Wednesday,

October 18, 2023, and continue until 11.30 am with three more presentations, including one by Thomas Guionnet.

 

Where: The session will take place in Presentation Room 1 at the SMPTE Media

 Technology Summit: Ray Dolby Ballroom, fifth floor of Ovation Hollywood, 6801

 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, CA 90028, USA.

 

Who:   John Ferder, Governor at Large, Fellow, SMPTE, will chair the session, and the two

papers will be presented as follows:

  • Alex Giladi, Fellow- Advanced Technologies at Comcast, will present a paper co-written with Thomas Guionnet, Fellow Research Engineer at Ateme: Making film grain great again: AV1-compatible film grain modeling for existing HEVC decoders

  • Thomas Guionnet, Fellow Research Engineer at Ateme, will present The future of video compression ‒ Moving beyond hybrid codecs with machine learning.
