Sennheiser MKH 8070

Ex-World Cup Sennheiser MKH 8070 Long Shotgun Microphone

Available for despatch late January 2023. A 50% deposit is required to secure equipment.

The Sennheiser MKH 8070 delivers professional sonic performance that is ready for mixing thanks to its extreme directivity, drastically low self-noise, and ultra-high sensitivity.

The Sennheiser MKH 8070 moisture-resistant shotgun microphone measures 18″ long and is designed for focused, high-quality audio capture in high-pressure outdoor environments such as sporting events and broadcast production.

The MKH 8070 was designed with the experienced professional in mind, offering the same sonic signature as Sennheiser’s other 8000-Series microphones. Its frequency response ranges from 45 Hz to 20 kHz, with a gentle rise above 2 kHz to improve intelligibility and a natural bass roll-off to reduce rumble. Its extremely low self-noise of 8 dBA and ultra-high sensitivity of -19 dB enable studio-worthy signal purity without the need for post-production noise reduction and gain boosting.

DPA Brings Eminent Domain to Life

Domain, an Audible Original, is told entirely from the main character Loretta’s point-of-view through a fully immersive, first-person audio recording. Set and recorded in New Mexico, the contemporary Sci-Fi drama recounts the experiences of Loretta, a sound scientist for an auto manufacturer, after a car crash that leaves her hearing strange voices. Written and produced by Victoriano Cardenas and Warren Langford, of Galisteo Production, the audiobook captures all the conversations, background sounds and other audio nuances surrounding Loretta, portrayed by Ama Zathura.

Beautiful Mix for Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga Posted: 26/01/2022
and lsquo;HEAR and rsquo; Creates Beautiful Mix for Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga and ldquo; One Last Time and rdquo; Concert Special

Renowned crooner Tony Bennett recently took to the stage for the “One Last Time” concerts at Radio City Music Hall alongside long-time friend and collaborator Lady Gaga, and the performances were nothing short of magical. As this is likely to be the last time audiences see Bennett perform live, the concerts were captured and aired as a CBS special on November 28, 2021. With sound at the forefront of considerations for this event, GRAMMY Award-winning Audio Engineers Jody Elff and John Harris of Harris-Elff Audio Resources (HEAR) selected a variety of DPA Microphones for the orchestral recording.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Sebastian Richter

Spotlight on Sebastian Richter, Vice President Media Systems at Rohde & Schwarz.

We are currently in the middle of a transition phase with migration to several new technologies, from the move to IP-based infrastructure and the shift from linear to video-on-demand (VOD).
The question for all of us is how long that transition phase will last; it is going to be faster for some customers then for others – national broadcasters, for example – it will be a slower process.

Spotlight on James Gilbert, Director of Product and Solution Management
James Gilbert

Over the next eight years we are going to be in transition, and within that there will be vastly different rates of change among content owners and media organisations. As a technology provider the onus is on us to be flexible and adaptable to meet this wide range of requirements from our customers.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Manfred Reitmeier

Now that OTT and VOD have become more mainstream, many commentators talk about traditional broadcast methods, like terrestrial transmission, being a thing of the past. With so many new platforms and non-traditional content services carving out a growing slice of the market, you can be forgiven for thinking that linear over-the-air television is on its way out. The reality is that the industry must strike a balance between meeting consumers’ shifting habits and the business and operational needs of content providers.

A switch in time: how KVM can unlock the future of broadcasting
Chris Smeeton

One of the major changes for broadcasters during the pandemic has been the shift towards remote production; by no means a new phenomenon in an IP environment, yet accelerated under lockdown to accommodate travel and gathering restrictions. A 2021 report found that almost 40% of broadcast professionals now employ remote production, up 9% on the previous year.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.
