Ikegami Announces UHK-X700 2 3-inch 4K-Native Global Shutter 3-CMOS Sensor UNICAM System Camera Posted: 25/02/2021
Ikegami Announces UHK-X700 2 3-inch 4K-Native Global Shutter 3-CMOS Sensor UNICAM System Camera

Ikegami announces a major addition to its UNICAM XE 4K system camera series. The UHK-X700 incorporates three newly developed 2/3-inch CMOS 4K sensors with global shutters to eliminate rolling shutter distortion and flash-banding artefacts.

"Designed for broadcast-quality video production and online streaming applications, the UHK-X700 looks set to become the flagship of the UNICAM series," comments Michael Lätzsch, Broadcast & Professional Video Division Manager at Ikegami Electronics (Europe). "It provides the high signal quality, versatile connectivity and robust build that are essential in today's multi-resolution media world. That includes full support for high dynamic range imagery with HLG or standard dynamic range, as well as the possibility to independently choose between BT.2020 and BT.709 colour spaces. High frame-rate shooting at up to 2x speed in 4K or up to 8x speed in HD via the base station is possible as an option, for applications such as capturing fast motion in sport or stage events."

When combined with the Ikegami BSX-100 base station, the camera optionally supports simultaneous output in 4K/HD video formats, including mixed sources. 4K video is available as a 12G-SDI feed directly from the camera head, allowing the UHK-X700 to be integrated into a wireless system.

Insight Productions Stays on the Road with Clear-Com

- Live Event Production Company Maintains Busy Schedule with LQ and Agent-IC -

The live event industry has proven its resilience over the past year, keeping the show on the road by deploying new workflows and configuring technologies in different ways. Insight Productions is a perfect example of this innovation, adapting to remote production to complement its traditional on-site production support.

To achieve this hybrid approach seamlessly, the company is using Clear-Com®’s LQ® Series of IP Interfaces and Agent-IC® Mobile App for efficient, high-quality communications between technical crews, clients and talent, whether they’re in transit, at a venue or at home.

UC Irvine and rsquo;s Claire Trevor School of the Arts Expands Comms to Facilitate Remote Productions and amp; New Learning Opportunities

- Clear-Com’s LQ & Agent-IC enable live dance and drama performances in addition to offering new training opportunities -

The Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA), known on campus as the creative lab, encompasses the University of California Irvine’s drama, dance, art and music programs. The School’s mission—to present the arts as the essence of human experience and expression—was challenged by the shelter-in-place restrictions that halted their ability to safely showcase live performances. Luckily, after a meeting with Clear-Com® at the (virtual) Stage Manager’s Symposium in May 2020, CTSA decided to add Clear-Com’s LQ® IP Interfaces and Agent-IC® Mobile App, which both complemented their existing system and provided a new learning opportunity for students.

CTSA is comprised of nine different spaces including four theaters, a concert hall, three art galleries, and the Beall Center for Art + Technology, boasting comprehensive undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are among the most prestigious available. “We’ve been a national leader in training emerging artists and performers since we were established in 1965,” said Associate Chair of Drama & Co-Head of Stage Management, Joel Veenstra. “One of our goals is to not only train our students with the best technologies, but to also train them with technologies that are used widely in the industry, so they are as prepared as possible for a successful career in the Arts.”

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
