Cybathlon 2020 Goes Virtual, Coordinating Live Team Competition from 20 Countries with TVU Networks Posted: 17/12/2020
Cybathlon 2020 Goes Virtual, Coordinating Live Team Competition from 20 Countries with TVU Networks and nbsp;

Last month, 51 teams from 20 countries competed in Cybathlon 2020 Global Edition, a series of races in which people with disabilities used exoskeletons, brain-computer interfaces, and other state-of-the-art assistance systems to complete everyday tasks. Teams were unable to gather in Zurich, Switzerland, due to COVID-19 restrictions, and instead opted for TVU Networks remote production solutions – including TVU One mobile transmitters, the TVU Anywhere mobile broadcasting app, and the TVU Partyline collaborative platform – which helped teams provide multi-camera video from around the world to create a live streaming event.

“The goal was to find a solution that could transmit high-quality live video over the internet from multiple locations around the world,” explained Thomas Stäubli, CEO of BBM Productions, whose team produced nine hours of live streaming content. “TVU was able to seamlessly combine live footage from professional cameras and camera phones into the same production.”

CBC Radio-Canada Chooses Dejero for Field Contribution Technology Posted: 05/02/2020
CBC Radio-Canada Chooses Dejero for Field Contribution Technology

Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that provide award-winning video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, announced today that it has once again been selected as the primary field contribution solutions provider for Canada's national public broadcaster, CBC/Radio-Canada (CBC). As part of this renewed multi-year agreement, Dejero will help with CBC’s transition to IP workflows.

A major project that CBC is currently undertaking is relocating the broadcaster's French Services HQ to the groundbreaking all-IP 'Maison de Radio-Canada' (MRC) broadcast center in Montreal. Upon completion later this year, the new SMPTE ST 2110 compliant MRC will stand as one of the most advanced, state-of-the-art IP broadcast facilities in the world, supporting CBC's multiplatform and ever-increasing digital strategy. As a long-time partner of CBC in the area of field contribution, Dejero is supporting the all-IP infrastructure at the MRC by providing the national broadcaster with the latest Dejero solutions including WayPoint 204 SMPTE ST 2110 receivers, EnGo 260 mobile transmitters, rack-mounted PathWay transmitters, and the LivePlus mobile app for iOS and Android devices across the network. Dejero is also providing CBC with connectivity and cloud-management services.

“Dejero’s proven track record, partnership, and ongoing support have been invaluable to CBC over the last decade," commented François Vaillant, executive director, engineering solutions at CBC/Radio-Canada. "Some of the key factors that stood out for us when we examined Dejero’s technology during the selection process, were that their solutions clearly met CBC’s needs and expectations, being reliable and agile, particularly when broadcasting in bandwidth-constrained scenarios from the field."

“We are thrilled to have been re-selected as the field contribution technology partner of CBC/Radio-Canada, a close relationship we have cultivated for over a decade," said Bogdan Frusina, founder of Dejero. “We look forward to continuing our support of CBC/Radio-Canada as it transitions to IP workflows and completes its groundbreaking project in Montreal.”

This announcement comes on the back of a successful year for Dejero that saw the company being awarded a second prestigious Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award recognizing its innovation in the industry, thanks to its Smart Blending Technology and unique hybrid encoding approach. Last year, Dejero was awarded its first Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award for 'excellence in engineering creativity', honoring a decade of achievements in the field of live transmission driven by its vision of reliable connectivity anywhere.

RTVE uses TVU Nano Router to capture the live action of the Morocco Rally Posted: 07/01/2020
RTVE uses TVU Nano Router to capture the live action of the Morocco Rally

TVU Networks, the global technology and innovation leader in live IP video solutions, announced that Spanish public broadcaster RTVE chose TVU equipment to follow the 2019 Rally of Morocco. RTVE’s coverage was a unique blend of action captured at close range with a smartphone running TVU Anywhere and more static moments shot using a standard camera setup with TVU One.

The Rally of Morocco is the most renowned rally in the country, bringing in the best racers every year. To provide viewers with an engaging live broadcast, RTVE sought a set of solutions whose versatility could match the liveliness of the rally.

RTVE found the answer in TVU Anywhere, the powerful application that turns mobile smart devices into HEVC transmitters with IS+ transmission algorithm. The Spanish broadcaster paired TVU Anywhere with the ultra-compact TVU Nano Router, which helped to ensure smooth, interruption-free transmissions by providing up to 200Mbps of secure, high-speed Internet by combining data from three different SIM providers.

TVU One, the mobile live video transmitter with HEVC encoding, was also on standby for the event, deployed when RTVE needed to switch to a higher resolution transmission with ultra-low, sub-second latency. The combination of these TVU products helped RTVE effectively capture the fast-paced action of the 2019 Rally of Morocco, and the live broadcast was successfully aired to RTVE’s flagship website and TV channel.

Making the Workflow Flow
Bruce Devlin - new The toughest things about being the Standards Vice President (SVP) is that everyone expects standards to be the most important thing. In all the systems that I’ve designed and deployed over the years, I've yet to find any production workflow that is 100% standards based. True, the core technologies may well be standards based, but the overall workflow is made up of many technology pieces from open source code, through de-facto delivery specifications based upon SMPTE or Trade Association Specifications that in turn depend on full, International Standards to work. I can already hear some folks saying "In the good old days, everything used standards", but I beg to disagree.

Making a Difference in Wireless Transmission
Lukasz Malankowski

We are very proud to say that we are the only company that provides a highly specific service, and that is the hire of wireless video transmission solutions operating in the licence exempt spectrum.

There are other companies that provide licensed equipment and offer a diverse range of wireless solutions based on different modulations, but our products, coupled with the offerings of others rather than competing with them produce a wireless workflow that is greater than their separate capabilities.

How Broadcasts Can Simplify The Delivery Of Live Video Streams To Affiliates
Phillipe Gonon In today’s fast paced environment broadcasters need to quickly, easily, and simultaneously share high-quality live content with multiple affiliates or other broadcast facilities. However, today it’s typical for each third-party transmitter to be connected to its own receiver with its own platform and management system. This results in major TV channels having several web interfaces and/or screens to receive and distribute feeds coming in from third-party devices.
