Studio Technologies Dante-Enabled Beltpacks Tee Up Comms For Multi-Screen Experience at The Ryder Cup Posted: 09/03/2017
The Ryder Cup, held this year at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, MN, is a biennial men's golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States. This year's competition, which was dedicated to golf legend Arnold Palmer, who had passed away just days before the event, garnered more attention than normal in North America as this was the first time the U.S. had won the contest since 2008. The production notably featured more on-course LED video screens than had ever been placed at a PGA Tour event, thanks to GoVision. This year's event also used a variety of equipment from Studio Technologies, a manufacturer of high-quality audio, video and fiber-optic solutions, including its Dante-enabled Model 370 Intercom Beltpacks and Model 380 On-Air Beltpacks.

The Benefits of LED Lighting in Broadcast
Rod Aaron Gammons The humble LED studio light has come a long way since its introduction. In the early days adoption was low, while scepticism that the quality and functionality of LEDs could rival traditional tungsten lighting was high. There has been a period of adjustment, challenges (particularly around light quality and manufacturing) overcome and the broadcast, media and entertainment industry has gradually grown more accepting of the technology and its benefits.

Challenges for MAM with varying production types
Jonathan Aroesty Many media asset management platforms are designed to handle the immense number of assets needed for today's fast-moving, content-heavy productions. Since every production is unique, each has its own set of asset management requirements and workflow needs. While the unique workflows vary, a common necessity for an easy-to-use interface with the ability to efficiently organize and manage large amounts of content is required, regardless of the type of production you are working on.

The future of post production
KitPlus

Love it or hate it, 2016 will certainly be a year to remember, for many reasons.

In the world of post-production, we've seen high dynamic range become incorporated into UK studio pipelines for the very first time. We watched Ang Lee demonstrate exactly what you can do by shooting at 120 frames per second in combination with stereo 3D. We've even become stunned spectators as film steadily makes a comeback as a creative medium, and VR goes from tinkerer specific to becoming a fully-fledged consumer technology to buy.

Mixing console displays - central to usability
Paul Hooper Since the introduction of assignable controls on mixing consoles, it has been essential to provide sound engineers with a clear picture of what the function and status is of each fader and other associated controls. Consoles can have over 100 faders. To allow the sound operator to keep track of the function of each panel and its current settings, clear, compact displays are needed.

Radio cameras bring a live broadcast to life
Tony Valentino Radio cameras bring a live broadcast to life - especially news, sports and studio shows - by their ability to roam around and move in closer to a subject. They capture a more natural spectator's view than a camera that is fixed at one point, and usually get the most intimate shots and the most exciting angles in a production. Today they are indispensable for covering large outdoor events - but if they have a weakness, it is probably the antenna.

You need more damn pixels
Jan Weigner There has obviously been a lot of chatter in recent years about 4K, but is it enough? 8K and beyond is where the excitement lies, but not in the way you might think. 8K and beyond for broadcast, both of which are easily achievable in a software-only, IP environment, may seem a bridge too far for most at the moment, and they're probably right¦for now.
