Studio Berlin expands OB van fleet with U10 and sets standards with new OB van concept Posted: 30/09/2021
Studio Berlin expands OB van fleet with U10 and sets standards with new OB van concept

The German-based TV production service company Studio Berlin has commissioned a new UHD/HDR OB van, the U10, which has already been successfully used in the live production of the German Television Award (RTL). Studio Berlin pursued innovative paths for mobile production units in the planning and implementation of U10. With approx. 60 m2 working space the OB van offers up to 26 people sufficient space for a relaxed working atmosphere. It can work with up to 24 UHD cameras and partners perfectly with a modern support truck. U10 is the second production vehicle (after the U9) that Studio Berlin planned and built with the German system integrator Broadcast Solutions. The most significant innovation leveraged with U10 and never been implemented in this consistency before is the separation of control room and technology. The technical components are not installed in the OB van, as is usually the case, but are housed in a central equipment room in the support truck. A fibre interlink connects both vehicles. Because of the vehicle's size and concept, Studio Berlin is well equipped to realise even the most prominent sports productions and show events.

PostmodernJukebox Keeps Swinging on YouTube Posted: 30/09/2021
PostmodernJukebox Keeps Swinging on YouTube

Pianist Scott Bradlee started PostmodernJukebox (PMJ) as a creative side project in the early days of YouTube and viral videos. Mixing modern pop hits with styles of the past, Bradlee and his musically inclined friends created a new phenomenon. A decade later, PMJ has grown to more than five million YouTube subscribers, which has earned them appearances on national television, along with a live audience following for their in-person performances. To keep the musical fun going strong, and easy to hear, PMJ relies on a large collection of DPA Microphones.

Adventurer Filmmaker Renan Ozturk Takes Teradek RT to Costa Rica

Some of the world’s most spectacular views are best seen from halfway up a wall of rock. That’s a place where gear has to be reliable, whether it’s crucial safety equipment or the cameras that let the rest of us experience the same dizzying panorama. It’s also a familiar situation to alpinist Renan Ozturk, whose experience includes some of the steepest climbing challenges on the planet as well as documentary filmmaking and photojournalism covering everything from the freezing Himalayas to the African deserts of Chad.

REVIEW - Hollyland MARS 400S PRO Digital Wireless Transmission System

Built by Hollyland and costing around £600 the Mars 400S is an easy-to-use wireless video transmitter/receiver system – it will be right up the alley of anyone who, like me, considers an instruction manual to be nothing more than box padding.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
