AVC-Systems Selects Leader LV5600 as IP Demo Reference Core Posted: 19/04/2021
AVC-Systems Selects Leader LV5600 as IP Demo Reference Core

AVC-Systems AG has invested in a Leader LV5600 SDI/IP multi-screen waveform monitor as the reference core of a new IP demonstration unit. Based at the company's headquarters in Einsiedeln canton Schwyz, in the central part of Switzerland, the demonstrator will be used to explain the operational and technical advantages of IP connectivity to Swiss TV and radio channel managers, content producers, broadcast systems integrators and telco service providers.

"The LV5600 is ideal as a demonstration reference as it incorporates all the tools needed to make reliable and repeatable signal measurements from initial production right through to playout," says AVC-Systems CEO Raphael Kaelin. "Designed for use in studio control galleries, OB vehicles, post-production suites and playout centres, it allows multiple sources to be compared side-by-side on the internal screen or viewed on a larger display via the rasterizing output."

WFMJ selects StreamMaster PRIME for branding refresh Posted: 19/04/2021
WFMJ selects StreamMaster PRIME for branding refresh

Pixel Power, the global leader in graphics production and master control playout automation, has delivered a configurable StreamMaster PRIME system to WFMJ, the NBC and CW affiliate in Youngstown, Ohio. The new StreamMaster PRIME is a direct replacement for an existing Pixel Power LogoVision graphics generator.

StreamMaster PRIME is a turnkey appliance, implemented in software running on COTS hardware, with a flexible function set. It is designed specifically to provide a replacement for individual devices in a traditional master control and playout architecture, and supports SDI I/O for easy integration with existing infrastructure. WFMJ had been using a Pixel Power LogoVision system for many years, but the hardware operating system was no longer supported by Microsoft so a replacement was needed.

Signature introduces Quicklink Studio for connecting remote presenters into virtual events Posted: 19/04/2021
Signature introduces Quicklink Studio for connecting remote presenters into virtual events

The Chicago based Signature Production Group, a live and virtual event production company, have adopted Quicklink Studio and Quicklink ST102’s as a “go-to” solution for connecting remote presenters into virtual events. The Quicklink solutions were provided to Signature by Key Code Media, a US-based systems integrator for A/V, broadcast, and post-production solutions.

Like most organisations, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) cancelled its yearly meeting and had a requirement to connect 4,000 members worldwide for a multi-day virtual meeting. Atlanta-based technical agency 3D-TD contracted Signature to broadcast the General Sessions through one of their ten virtual control rooms. For this event, Signature used Quicklink Studio and Quicklink ST102s to connect bi-directional audio and video to Singapore, Denver, Oklahoma City, Fort Worth and Las Vegas, all through their facility outside of Chicago.

ATEME Solidifies Presence in MENA Region with Nilesat Tender Wins Posted: 15/04/2021
ATEME Solidifies Presence in MENA Region with Nilesat Tender Wins

ATEME, the leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable TV, DTH, IPTV and OTT, today announced that Nilesat, one of the leading satellite service providers delivering digital television, radio, and data services across the Middle East and Africa, has chosen to implement its TITAN Live platform for two projects, increasing ATEME’s presence in the MENA region.

In the first of two tender wins, ATEME TITAN Live will enable contribution over IP via a new fiber link between Nilesat and Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), an information and media complex with studios and outdoor shooting areas for production companies. This architecture enables EMPC to transfer content much faster than with the previous traditional SDI networks.

ATEME’s TITAN Live video headend has also been selected to enable Nilesat to expand its current video processing infrastructure for the Egyptian (ENMA) channels. This allows ENMA to increase its footprint internationally.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
