Imagine Communications Names Diana Horowitz Vice President, Strategic Sales, Advertising Technology Posted: 30/06/2022
Imagine Communications Names Diana Horowitz Vice President, Strategic Sales, Advertising Technology

Imagine Communications has appointed media industry executive Diana Horowitz to the newly created position of vice president, strategic sales, advertising technology. Based in New York City, Horowitz will drive the company’s strategy of helping customers generate greater profitability from their media assets by migrating toward a converged linear and digital advertising approach.

Horowitz brings extensive experience in digital and broadcast advertising and technology to Imagine’s Americas sales team, led by Joe Sheehan, senior vice president of sales, Americas. Her wide-ranging media background allows her to offer a unique perspective to Imagine and its customers, having led advertising businesses through digital transformations and revenue expansion programs.

“Diana is a critical addition to the Imagine advertising technology sales team,” says Steve Reynolds, president of Imagine Communications. “She has demonstrated that she can plan and execute exactly the kind of transformation that so many of our customers are trying to implement right now — bringing together linear and digital advertising into a converged inventory and sales structure. Diana’s prior experience in ad sales and operations with programmers, networks, and distributors provides a point of view that will allow her to understand and advocate for our customers, so that Imagine can deliver our industry-leading solutions in ways that provide real business benefit to those customers.”

“I am thrilled to join Imagine Communications at this pivotal time in the media industry, when brands, marketers and media companies are seeking to unite addressable audiences across platforms and devices to maximize the power of their advertising campaigns and the value of their inventory,” says Horowitz. “Imagine’s vast experience in delivering innovative ad tech solutions provides a unique platform to support these business-critical objectives, and I am excited to partner across the industry to participate in achieving these goals.”

Prior to joining Imagine, Horowitz was senior vice president, advertising sales, at fuboTV, also overseeing ad operations. Her previous roles include positions at Telestream, IBM Watson Media, Comcast Technology Solutions and Scripps Networks Interactive, where she led the digital ad sales team, northeast region, for Food Network and Cooking Channel. Horowitz began her career at The New York Times Company, holding leadership roles in both New York and Paris.

Real world application demo of Element Tile 140 Studio lights by Projects Department. Posted: 02/03/2022
Real world application demo of Element Tile 140 Studio lights by Projects Department.

We have recently been demoing our Element Tile 140's to a potential customer. This was an upgrade from their previous lighting source which the presenters found uncomfortable to look at due to the fact they could see the point source. Our Element Tile was put to the test against a leading brand and we were beyond happy to find that our light out performed theirs in terms of brightness despite being much more compact. The customer is now able to try these lights for a full week with real world application to see if they are the right fit for them. We are feeling positive they are and the early feedback has been good.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Manfred Reitmeier

Now that OTT and VOD have become more mainstream, many commentators talk about traditional broadcast methods, like terrestrial transmission, being a thing of the past. With so many new platforms and non-traditional content services carving out a growing slice of the market, you can be forgiven for thinking that linear over-the-air television is on its way out. The reality is that the industry must strike a balance between meeting consumers’ shifting habits and the business and operational needs of content providers.

A switch in time: how KVM can unlock the future of broadcasting
Chris Smeeton

One of the major changes for broadcasters during the pandemic has been the shift towards remote production; by no means a new phenomenon in an IP environment, yet accelerated under lockdown to accommodate travel and gathering restrictions. A 2021 report found that almost 40% of broadcast professionals now employ remote production, up 9% on the previous year.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

Meeting the specification
Chris Smeeton

A good technical specification will detail precisely what is required, from the equipment to the cables connecting it. Many specifications will give  particular manufacturers and model numbers. On many occasions, this makes tendering simple and gives vendors a secure and fair way to bid.
