HTC Vive Mars camera tracking system - Virtual production kit

HTC VIVE MARS

Up for sale is a brand new HTC Vive Mars camera tracking system. I was one of the lucky first to be selected to buy this revolutionary product. Unfortunately, the project it was purchased for was canceled and my focus professionally now has shifted.

The HTC Vive Mars system is a professional camera tracking system that will allow you and your crew to integrate your studio shoot into a 3d environment. Many refer to the Star Wars Mandalorian series that was partially shot in front of a LED wall. Now, you don't necessarily need one of those. This system will play nice with setups in green- or bluescreen situations as well. Surely, this technique can also be used to track your camera movement in 3d space and integrate your graphics, moving elements etc.

Currently, these packages still are hard to get and on special request at HTC. So, be lucky and get yours today.

The box was only opened once to check for all items. All of the plastic wraps are in tact and none of the software or serial numbers have been registered yet. Like I said: brand new.

What you'll find in the box:
Mars x 1
Rover x 3
Base station 2.0 x 2
VIVE Tracker (3.0) x 2
Power cord for Mars*
AC adapter for Mars
AC adapter for base station* x 2
15-m LAN cable (Mars to Rover) x 3
5-m LAN cable (Mars to router)
USB cable (VIVE Tracker (3.0) to Rover) x 3
Calibration kit
Screw for calibration board
Channel changing pin (for base station)
Documentation (Quick Start Guide / Safety guide / Warranty certificate)

More info can be found on the dedicated website for Vive Mars, just Google it.

I'd be happy to answer any more of your questions, do not hesitate to ask. Offers welcome.

Ikegami Reports Ongoing Transition from HD-SDR to UHD-HDR and SDI to IP Broadcast Production Through 2022

Ikegami reports ongoing broadcast and professional media innovation throughout 2022 including the Unicam UHK-X750 IP-capable UHD HDR HFR camera plus the R2 Real Remote production system.

"UHD-HDR has replaced UHD-SDR as the default standard for consumer TV displays," says Michael Lätzsch, Broadcast & Professional Video Division Manager at Ikegami Electronics (Europe) GmbH. "This in turn has encouraged broadcast-focused production companies to invest in UHD-HDR camera systems. UHD-HDR content is becoming increasingly available online from dedicated streaming channels. A growing number of broadcasters are also supplementing their HD-SDR terrestrial and satellite transmissions with online UHD-SDR content."

FIBA 3x3 World Tour Paris Master Relies on ATEM Constellation 8K

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2022 Paris Masters has relied on a multicamera OB (outside broadcast) solution featuring the ATEM Constellation 8K live production switcher.

The 2022 tournament marks the 11th edition of the 3x3 masters' format and incorporates 12 events worldwide. Toulouse based Stop and Go Production, which specializes in sports production, supplied OB support on the maiden edition of the Paris Masters event at the iconic Carreau du Temple.

Imagined entirely in house and built in only six months, the OB truck can accommodate up to four technicians and features a hybrid 4K IP and SDI based production workflow.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Sebastian Richter

Spotlight on Sebastian Richter, Vice President Media Systems at Rohde & Schwarz.

We are currently in the middle of a transition phase with migration to several new technologies, from the move to IP-based infrastructure and the shift from linear to video-on-demand (VOD).
The question for all of us is how long that transition phase will last; it is going to be faster for some customers then for others – national broadcasters, for example – it will be a slower process.

James Gilbert

Over the next eight years we are going to be in transition, and within that there will be vastly different rates of change among content owners and media organisations. As a technology provider the onus is on us to be flexible and adaptable to meet this wide range of requirements from our customers.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Manfred Reitmeier

Now that OTT and VOD have become more mainstream, many commentators talk about traditional broadcast methods, like terrestrial transmission, being a thing of the past. With so many new platforms and non-traditional content services carving out a growing slice of the market, you can be forgiven for thinking that linear over-the-air television is on its way out. The reality is that the industry must strike a balance between meeting consumers’ shifting habits and the business and operational needs of content providers.

A switch in time: how KVM can unlock the future of broadcasting
Chris Smeeton

One of the major changes for broadcasters during the pandemic has been the shift towards remote production; by no means a new phenomenon in an IP environment, yet accelerated under lockdown to accommodate travel and gathering restrictions. A 2021 report found that almost 40% of broadcast professionals now employ remote production, up 9% on the previous year.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

The Cloud - a measured approach
Ciaran Doran

With the buzz of ‘cloud’ everywhere in our industry it would be natural to think that cloud is the only game in town. Isn’t it time to step back and consider very carefully how, or whether, you make that journey to the cloud?

Meeting the specification
Chris Smeeton

A good technical specification will detail precisely what is required, from the equipment to the cables connecting it. Many specifications will give  particular manufacturers and model numbers. On many occasions, this makes tendering simple and gives vendors a secure and fair way to bid.
