Wooden Camera, the Dallas-based designer and manufacturer of professional camera accessories, is now shipping the Ultra QR Articulating Monitor Mount, a quick-release solution designed to support up to 45 pounds and easily integrate with select SmallHD production monitors.

Every tier of these production-ready kits features the compact, low-profile, Panasonic BGH1 Camera Cage alongside a new Mini Top Handle (3/8"-16) and LW 15mm Baseplate. Options include three new universal utility pieces that can be used on any rig: a new and improved bolt-on ARRI Rosette (3/8"-16), a compact Tilt Monitor Hinge (3/8"-16) and the Mini Top Handle (3/8"-16).

Prism Sound audio conversion equipment is playing a key role in a marathon restoration project that will see 233 analogue master tapes converted into useable digital WAV. files.

The tapes belong to Good Time Records (GTR), an international catalogue owner and label with offices in the UK and US (Nashville). Content included in these tapes comes from the Crash, Satril and Catawba labels, all three of which were formerly administered by the Henry Hadaway Organisation (HHO), a company established in 1969 by Henry Hadaway MBE.

HHO became an innovator in the independent record label sector and it achieved great success during the 1970s and 1980s with artists such as The Sandpipers, The Rockin’ Berries, Kenny Lynch, Frankie Vaughan, Lyn Paul (ex-New Seekers), The Tweets, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Picket, Brook Benton and Jackie Moore. GTR, which regularly buys vintage catalogues, acquired the Crash, Satril and Catawba labels in 2020 as part of a multi-label catalogue deal.

The masters currently being restored comprise the recording archive of the former Satril Studios in North London. Among them is The Birdie Song by The Tweets, which sold over 1.6 million copies in the UK alone.

The digitization of GTR’s archive is being undertaken by sound engineer Graham Joiner, who runs a specialist audio restoration company in Brentwood, Essex. His studio is equipped with three Prism Sound Titan audio interfaces, which were specifically acquired to tackle the GTR project.

Wooden Camera announces a full range of accessories compatible with the new Canon EOS C70, adding to their long line of modular parts, and further improving customization to better fit camera operators’ personal requirements.

Operators can expand the C70’s rigging surface with a contoured Top Plate and improve handheld agility with the Mini Top Handle--both of which feature a multitude of ¼”-20, ”-16, and ARRI Standard mounting points for securing additional Wooden Camera or third-party accessories. A compatible Monitor Hinge increases on-camera monitor visibility with a wide, 180-degree tilting angle; this mount arrives with standard locating pins for SmallHD monitors and includes an additional rubber pad for attaching third party monitors. For lens support and convenient on/off quick-release mounting with tripods, the LW 15mm Baseplate provides 15mm rod pass-through brackets and an ARCA Swiss standard dovetail system with safety lock.

A new Sony FX6 Top Plate contours to the shape of the camera body, wraps around the original top handle, and features rows of 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 mounting points, as well as several ARRI Accessory Mounts. The Unified Baseplate features 15mm rod supports and can be attached to standard tripod plates or ARRI standard bridgeplates; this system features a double quick-release that allows operators to either remove the full camera/rod setup from their tripod, or simply detach the camera on it’s own.

Providing precision, zero-latency tracking for any camera (including ultra-long box lenses for sport), the Mo-Sys camera tracking kit interfaces directly to the Unreal Engine or any broadcast render engine, allowing production companies to add virtual crowds to stands.

“After so many weeks, sports fans are desperate for any action,” said Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys. “But the frustration will turn to disappointment if the atmosphere of the game falls flat because of empty stands. We have developed a camera tracking kit which any outside broadcast can implement quickly and simply, capable of filling the stands with a virtual, but enthusiastic, crowd.”

The Mo-Sys camera tracking encoders are quickly mounted onto broadcast standard Vinten Vector heads, with no impact on the camera’s perfect balance and no backlash when panning and tilting. Zoom data is collected either by gear encoders or by a serial data link to digital lenses. The combined tracking data is sent over ethernet to the workstation hosting the augmented reality software.
