Ikegami to Highlight Virtual and Remote Production at Inter BEE 2022 Posted: 04/11/2022
Ikegami to Highlight Virtual and Remote Production at Inter BEE 2022

Ikegami will show the latest additions to its product range at Inter BEE 2022. Central themes of its demonstrations will be new advances in virtual and remote production developed in response to changing production styles resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Ikegami's R2 Real Remote production system allows highly efficient remote camera operation between the studio and the sub-control room as well as ensuring social distancing and studio crowd avoidance when necessary to guard against infection, particularly in close-up sequences. It is designed for use with cameras such as the compact full broadcast quality UHD/HD Ikegami UHL-43. Support is provided by a six-axis programmable articulated robot arm mounted on a motorised pedestal. This combination allows fast and easy changes in camera height from a minimum of 400 mm to a maximum of 2,350 mm above floor level. The R2 can be relocated easily from one studio to another.

Somoy TV, Bangladesh, Upgrades to HD Production with Ikegami Cameras and Monitors Posted: 24/10/2022
Somoy TV, Bangladesh, Upgrades to HD Production with Ikegami Cameras and Monitors

Somoy Television, a news-based 24-hour television channel broadcasting nationwide in the Bengali language, has chosen Ikegami HD cameras and monitors for use at its studio headquarters in Dhaka. The investment forms part of the network’s transition from 576i SD to 1080i HD production and transmission.

Somoy TV (literally 'Time TV') has operated successfully with Ikegami technology from the commencement of test transmissions ahead of its April 17th 2011 launch. An HL-65W SD camera became a core element of the studio’s production resources. Impressed by the quality and robustness of the equipment, plus the high standard of support provided by Ikegami and local distributor For-A India, the channel was fully confident in selecting Ikegami HD cameras and monitors.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

Meeting the specification
Chris Smeeton

A good technical specification will detail precisely what is required, from the equipment to the cables connecting it. Many specifications will give  particular manufacturers and model numbers. On many occasions, this makes tendering simple and gives vendors a secure and fair way to bid.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.
