Imagine Communications Enables Remote Workflows Launches Intuitive, Flexible Automation UI to Improve Operational Efficiencies for Media Companies Posted: 08/12/2021
Imagine Communications Enables Remote Workflows Launches Intuitive, Flexible Automation UI to Improve Operational Efficiencies for Media Companies

As demand for remote operations continues to increase across the industry, Imagine Communications has enhanced its ADC™ playout automation the most widely deployed automation platform enabling media companies to access and control their broadcast chain from anywhere. This powerful capability enhances existing media workflows with better revenue assurance and business continuity, provides for more efficient operations utilizing remote staff, and supports new operational models including hub-and-spoke deployments and unified broadcast operations from a centralized broadcast center.

ADC Flex is an intuitive, flexible, and highly configurable addition to Imagine’s trusted ADC automation platform. Running natively in a web browser, ADC Flex provides a powerful, easy-to-use, remote-ready control solution, enabling media companies to leverage existing infrastructure and minimize operational training to reduce their total cost of ownership. ADC Flex can be added to existing ADC deployments or can be used as the basis for new facilities and new channel launches.

ADC Flex lets operators monitor and control channels, schedule content ingest and manage content from anywhere with internet access providing operational efficiencies, while maintaining mission-critical functions. With its modern HTML5 web user interface, ADC Flex is tailored to broadcasters’ specific operational needs, offering an identical look and feel whether the operator is in the machine room, at a remote location, or working from home; all that is needed to communicate is a secure data connection.

“Customers today want highly resilient playout control that is intuitive, fast, configurable and reliable,” said Andy Warman, senior VP playout at Imagine Communications. “ADC Flex provides that flexibility and agility, whether it is for an existing system or at a new ADC installation. The user interface features a thoroughly modern look and feel that is easy to use and easy to customize. It allows media companies to connect over their local network or over a secure internet connection without the need for any additional cumbersome hardware or interfaces.”

Renowned for its extensive library of external devices, ADC automation can be tightly integrated with Imagine Communications’ Nexio® video servers and Versio™ integrated playout platform and provide an easy upgrade path as and when needed. ADC Flex leverages these capabilities and will adapt to changing technologies and workflow requirements.

Screens can be customized to suit workflow requirements and user preferences. Permissions can be assigned to users and groups, and favorites can be assigned for commonly used layouts. Since it is built using HTML5, ADC Flex can run on Windows, MacOS or Linux. Control panels and supervisory screens can also be created for tablets where mobility is required.

“The events of the last 18 months have driven home the need to be able to work remotely, which in channel playout means updating schedules, taking dynamic manual control and monitoring outputs,” Warman added. “ADC Flex is the solution that broadcasters around the world have asked us for.”

Ateme Provides TVRI with Next-generation Contribution Solution Posted: 07/12/2021
Ateme Provides TVRI with Next-generation Contribution Solution

Ateme, the leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable TV, DTH, IPTV and OTT, today announced that TVRI, a state-owned national broadcaster and the country’s largest television network, has chosen to implement its TITAN Edge contribution solution, further strengthening Ateme’s presence in Indonesia.

Ateme’s TITAN Edge encoders and decoders provide two-way contribution between TVRI’s Jakarta headquarters and 28 provinces across Indonesia. This has allowed TVRI to upgrade its system and transport video between locations, such as remote studios, thereby enabling remote production.

TITAN Edge is a futureproof, software-based contribution encoder and decoder solution. This offers TVRI a number of benefits including being able to upgrade to Ateme’s next-generation contribution codecs, as well as using less rack space and power, making the transport of video more cost- and energy-efficient, and more environmentally friendly.

DHD.audio withdraws from IBC 2021

Following many years of active participation in the International Broadcasting Convention, DHD.audio announces the company's withdrawal from IBC 2021 due to the current situation in Amsterdam and the wider Netherlands.

The DHD management board places health and safety above all other considerations. We do not feel justified in asking employees, partners and customers to participate in this year's exhibition. We hope to see all our partners and customers again at IBC 2022 or in other formats such as online-meetings or suitably safeguarded personal visits.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
