PlayBox Neo schedules online Whats New in Broadcast Playout presentation for September 30th Posted: 20/09/2021
PlayBox Neo schedules online Whats New in Broadcast Playout presentation for September 30th

PlayBox Neo will introduce the latest additions to its industry-leading range of software and supporting services in an open-access webinar on Thursday September 30th. Subjects to be covered will include the new PlayBox Neo Media Gateway and updates to the AirBox Neo-20 modular broadcast playout system.

“We were really looking forward to showcasing our new announcements live to customers and partners at the October NAB 2021 in Las Vegas," says PlayBox Neo CEO Pavlin Rahnev. “However we understand the reasoning behind the tough decision to cancel the event due to Covid-19 concerns and the current restrictions on intercontinental travel. We still want to give people the opportunity to see a demonstration of how we plan to maintain our position as the global leader in broadcast playout. Continuing with our webinar series is one of the ways we intend to achieve that.”

mairlist GmbH Announces Formation of BroadcastThings Posted: 21/09/2021
mairlist GmbH Announces Formation of BroadcastThings

mairlist GmbH announces the formation of BroadcastThings (www.broadcastthings.com), a new subsidiary company which will focus on the development of broadcast systems integration software.

BroadcastThings is led by mairlist GmbH founder and managing director Dr Torben Weibert. Its primary product, BroadcastThings Connect, supports a large number of control protocols from broadcast equipment vendors such as DHD Audio, Lawo, Axia, D&R, Prodys, Velleman and Elgato, plus a wide range of virtual connection standards. Support for Wheatstone and Tieline is planned for release mid Q4. Support for Lawo SAS is planned to follow shortly after

"Software interfacing and digital interlinking have long been core elements of the media systems integration business," Torben Weibert comments. "BroadcastThings Connect was originally developed for use with DHD Audio Series 52 sound mixers. We have since expanded it into a multi-protocol converter and monitoring tool which lets broadcasters create rules that translate parameters between multiple device types.

HOLLYLAND LARK 150 Review
Phil Vinter

The exponential growth of video supercharged a technological revolution that began in the early noughties with the advent of DSLR cameras.
The cinematic-style shallow depth of field image video quality from DSLRs was a revelation, but, back then audio was the big drawback. As demand has grown so the technology has improved and today’s one-man-band small rig set ups can capture pretty good sound into a DSLR style camera.

Phil Vinter reviews the latest release from HOLLYLAND and it's a thumbs up from us.

ERA IaaS at University of Salford
KitPlus The University of Salford (UoS) is widely recognised in both academic and professional circles as a leading educational establishment in acoustics and media production. In 2011 the University moved its television and radio courses from its main campus just outside Salford city centre into the Orange Tower on the main piazza of MediaCityUK (MCUK).

This purpose-built hub for broadcasters, facility houses and production companies was created when redevelopment of the old Salford Quays docks area began in 2007. UoS was among the first institutions to consider moving to MCUK, along with the BBC, which had already committed to transfer many of its departments from London.
