Canon DP-V2410

Lightweight and robust, the Canon DP-V2410 is a 24-inch, 4K professional reference display offers superb image quality and fits seamlessly into 4K production workflows. Ideal for on-set quality control and colour management.

Key Features:

  • 24-inch 4K professional reference display for digital cinema and video production
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode delivers more natural and realistic images
  • Colour settings synchronisation and built-in debayer for direct RAW input from Canon Cinema EOS cameras
  • Faithful colour reproduction with support for BT.2020, DCI-P3 and ACES Proxy (ACES ver. 1.0)
  • Automatic colour and brightness correction system ensures stable image quality over time
  • 2000:1 contrast ratio or greater
  • On-set functions include 4K capable Wave Form Monitor, Vectorscope and 3D/1D-LUT
  • Multiple connections including HDMI interface and four 3G/HD-SDI
  • Lightweight (12kg) and robust design for excellent portability
  • Support for 24 volt DC power input

DIRECT RAW INPUT FROM CINEMA EOS CAMERAS - Camera colour settings can be synchronised and a built-in debayer enables stunning 4K RAW data (up to 60p), shot with compatible Canon Cinema EOS cameras, to be easily reproduced and monitored in real time. This saves on the cost of an external debayer unit and makes for a smaller and simpler setup, ideal when mobility during a shoot is required.

FAITHFUL COLOUR REPRODUCTION - The combination of a newly-developed IPS LCD panel, high-purity RGB LED backlight system and Canon processor enables accurate, repeatable, uniform and stable colour reproduction - resulting in almost no visible variation between displays. Colour gamuts of multiple broadcast standards are supported including BT.2020, DCI-P3 and support for ACES workflows with ACES Proxy (ACES ver. 1.0).

AUTOMATIC COLOUR AND BRIGHTNESS CORRECTION - Canon′s advanced control system automatically and consistently corrects any changes in colour and brightness that can occur over extended periods of time, to ensure highly stable display performance.

2000:1 CONTRAST RATIO OR GREATER - The newly-developed high-contrast IPS LCD panel and Canon’s image processing technology combine to achieve a high contrast ratio of 2000:1. Accurate reproduction of gradation ensures faithful display of dark images, such as shadow detail or night scenes. A Contrast Boost function instantly increases display brightness in bright locations.

EXTENSIVE ON-SET FUNCTIONS - The DP-V2410 offers an extensive range of 4K-capable on-set functions including a Wave Form Monitor and Vectorscope, which displays the input signal, superimposed onto the screen, and support for multiple 3D/1D-LUTs for convenient monitoring and representation of a particular look. Focusing can be checked at a glance with a peaking function or use the Audio Level Meter function to display audio signal levels with up to eight channels. A Frame Hold feature pauses the image for checking and enables you to save it as an image file to USB memory, using the Capture function.

MULTIPLE CONNECTION OPTIONS - Connection options include a high bandwidth HDMI interface for fast transfer speeds from compatible cameras enabling transmission of 4K (up to 60p) images via a single cable. Four 3G/HD-SDI connectors, a USB port and a LAN terminal are also included.

EXCELLENT PORTABILITY WITH 24 VOLT DC POWER INPUT - With a robust, lightweight design weighing just 12kg, a sturdy handle and support for a 24 volt DC power input the DP-V2410 is perfect for on-set quality control and colour management, where portability and size is a factor.

HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR) MODE - The DP-V2410 provides an HDR mode by supporting SMPTE ST 2084 (PQ), Canon Log and Canon Log2. HDR mode allows both extreme highlights and shadow detail of scenes to be seen at the same time, together with rich mid tones, for a more natural and realistic image.

BUILT-IN DEBAYER 4K RAW SUPPORT (WITH COMPATIBLE CINEMA EOS CAMERAS) - A built-in debayer enables compatible Canon Cinema EOS cameras to be connected directly to the DP-V2410, easily reproducing stunning full 4K RAW data in real time on the display. Not only does this save on the cost of an external debayer unit, it also makes for a smaller and simpler setup, ideal when mobility during a shoot is required. In addition, the camera’s metadata can be acquired and displayed, while an image quality linkup function automatically synchronises the colour settings from a compatible Canon camera to the display, preventing settings errors.

Investing in the Future of Broadcast Media
Clive Northen At the time of writing, the summer World Cup is providing its usual challenge to camera crews trying to televise the bright sunlight of the stadium without losing detail in shaded areas such as the covered terraces. It is a perfect demonstration of the need for high dynamic range. Several broadcasters are experimentally covering this year's tournament in 4K HDR, including the BBC which is streaming dozens of matches via its iPlayer service. HDR is also accompanied by a wider colour space, meaning millions more colours can be displayed than previously. Yet another advance is the adoption of 50p delivery rather than traditional 50i.

Canon C200: Tried and Tested
Ben Sherriff There are many reviews about this camera online and a heap of incredibly detailed comparison and behind the scenes footage that will really give you a full insight into what it can do. So first a disclaimer - this review is less detailed and based on my personal reading of what this camera means for Canon and all other camera manufacturers and us – the users of these technologies. So, what’s all the fuss about?

Looking back at IBC 2017
Duncan Payne IBC feels like a bit of a dim and damp memory now, but a few over-riding memories do remain however, not least of which was the Arri party to celebrate its 100th year. It was like an old-school manufacturers IBC/NAB party, back when manufacturers had marketing budgets, and lots of sales people. It got IBC off to a great start; thanks Arri.

Media Production Show and other news
Duncan Payne So, the 2nd Media Production Show has been and gone. Hands up who went to Islington by mistake? I know at least two people who did. Their secret is safe with me! For me, the sign of a great trade show is when I come away really enthused about an innovative use of existing technology or a brand new product. When I find something that combines both these things, then I'm a very happy man.

Canon CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 Review
Ben Sherriff The Canon Cine range of lenses have been around for quite a few years now. The CN-E Cinema Prime lenses became an early alternative to using PL adaptors or the Zeiss Compact Prime lenses. Other than that the choice was rehoused stills lenses or maybe if you were lucky a set of Zeiss super speeds. The cine lens set became a cost effective offering for sharp prime lenses with clear and accurate markings for proper functionality.

Understanding the process of video production
Joseph Adamson In this article I will focus on understanding the process of video production. The use of miniaturised video equipment and understanding the capability of the kit chosen for the job will be mentioned. The video production process is a road map, which not only helps the producer to minimise problems during production and achieve professional results, but also saves time. This process can be tricky to understand and many videographers are self taught, including myself.
