Odyssey SSD Media
Reliability is imperative…Convergent Design cares about the quality of your media and we stand behind it. Convergent Design 2.5" Premium SSD's are server-grade drives with built in power protection. All Convergent Design SSD's are thoroughly evaluated and tested. Prior to distribution, all SSD's are burned-in and checked for errors.FeaturesUltra-Fast & Reliable Solid State Drives
Server-Grade media with power loss protection

To offer the highest quality and be able to stand behind our products and solutions, we can’t allow other variables, such as off the shelf media, to fail on set.

Off-the-shelf media can act unpredictably and is difficult to certify. From burst length to que depth, there is a bevy of technical considerations taken to ensure sustained read/write speeds and max performance. File closing and wake-up time are also important considerations to keeping your recorder always ready to fire when you are. And of course, lose of power can quickly corrupt media, but Convergent Design Premium SSD media will recover and close clips in the event of power loss.

Premium SSD Media

Extreme Reliability
From rapid wake-up to power protection, Convergent Design 2.5” SSDs don’t miss a frame. Our premium drives have proven reliability. All Odyssey SSDs are individually tested by Convergent Design for full compatibility with the Odyssey monitor/recorders. Failures of Odyssey SSDs are nearly nonexistent. In the initial testing phase, Convergent Design has rejected just 0.2% of the assembled units before shipping them to clients.

High Capacity
Odyssey SSDs are available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities. The US list price on the 1TB Odyssey SSD is $1395, or $1.36/Gig. The 256 GB Odyssey SSD is $395 and the 512 GB Odyssey SSD is $795 ($1.55/Gig). Other memory systems with similar speed capabilities but without the data protection of the Odyssey SSDs are comparable in price. Some memory devices can be many times the cost, and others do not offer the reliability of solid state media.

Sustained read/Write speeds
From burst length to cue depth, there is a bevy of technical considerations taken to ensure maximum performance.

Power loss protection
Convergent Design SSDs will recover and close clips in the event of a lost power.

Sata Adapter Not Included: See USB 3.0 SSD Adapter. Also recommended, Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adapter

Looking for the Silver Lining
Harry Grinling According to the World Meteorological Organisation, there are 10 different types of cloud, each of which can be divided further into sub-types. They range from the cirrus, the thin floaty clouds which generally serve only to make the sky look beautiful to the towering, all-embracing cumulonimbus which can deliver fearful quantities of rain – the biggest cumulonimbus clouds can contain 50 million tonnes of water.

NAB Intelligence
Bruce Devlin - new It's that time of year again. 06:30 on road bikes on the Las Vegas Strip with a merry bunch of folks who believe they look good in lycra. As we pedal West up the hill towards Red Rock there will be stories of the year just gone and questions about what to look for at the show. I, for one, will be attending the Devoncroft event to check up on who is spending what and where. I will then look forward to the topics that might be buzzing around the halls. I predict there will be many displays of Machine Learning hiding under the banner of Artificial Intelligence. Some of these will show better picture quality, others will show personalisation engines, some will be improved search tools and yet more will be synthesising pictures and motions to replace reality with and Artificial reality that's more compelling for the viewer.

4k and HDR Wireless Camera Transmitters
David Edwards Across the globe, live events represented over 50 percent of the most watched TV programs last year. However, big budget episodic shows are impacting live TV and the way viewers want to see their content. Viewers are demanding the same quality of production for live event broadcasts as they see in pre-recorded TV series and films. Producers of live content are looking to new, immersive and cinematic mobile camera views to better achieve these results. This presents a challenge to live production teams as these new camera views and angles must match the quality of the rest of the production -  the demand for mobility means that the cameras need to be wireless.

Keeping Your Post Prodction on Track with Subclips and Search Bins
Alex Macleod

For my 2nd Kit Plus article I thought I’d try and build on the theme of my first, and that’s one of making sure things are organised at all levels of your post production projects.

Last time I talked about trying as best as you can to stick to the ‘two week rule’, making sure that the names & locations of every asset you import, and every bin & sequence that you create in your project - will make sense to you regardless of how long it is you spend away from it.
