Telewizja Polsat, one of Poland's largest broadcast media companies, has chosen Leader reference signal generators and hybrid IP/SDI test and measurement instruments for a recently completed IP-based 4K HDR outside broadcast camera truck. The instruments were supplied by Leader channel partner 4Vision.

Broadcast test instruments from Leader Electronics will form the signal evaluation core of an end-to-end 4K HDR post-production workflow demonstration on the Big Pic Media stand (L326) throughout the May 11th-12th Media Production & Technology Show at Olympia London. Mediaset SpA, one of Italy's most active broadcasters, has chosen Leader ZEN Series LV5600 waveform monitors for integration into two fully-IP-interfaced mobile control vehicles and also for some MCR and studio applications. The vehicles are configured to operate alongside the network's Milan and Rome production centers and on location. Eleven LV5600 units have been supplied by Leader's Italian distribution partner, Communication Video Engineering (CVE).

"Our aim is to deploy a fully IP infrastructure for the transmission of signals between our various studio, fixed and mobile facilities," comments Mauro Cassanmagnago, Director of Mediaset's Production & Broadcasting Technologies department. "This will allow uncompressed baseband signals up to and including UHD to be made available to all relevant staff simply without having to route audio, video, data and intercom signals separately. Our IP-connected galleries will be even be able to handle remote productions."

Leader Electronics addresses the realities of IP media facility management in an AIMS IP Showcase presentation at the NAB convention in Las Vegas, Monday April 25, 13:00 PST. Leader Electronics' latest-generation LV5350 waveform monitor and LV7300 rasterizer will form the test and measurement core of two digital film production systems on the Mission Digital stand (206) at the April 7th-9th BSC Expo in London's Battersea Evolution. A highly experienced IT and digital dailies service provider, Mission uses Leader test instruments to support its SDR and HDR on-set DIT, lab and DI activity.

New product developments during an eventful year included the LVB440 IP Analyzer which allows efficient quality-of-service monitoring and analysis of high bit-rate IP media traffic. Housed in a compact 1U, it is designed for use in broadcast production studios, OB vehicles, master control facilities and transmission networks. The LVB440 supports data rates of up to 50 gigabit/s, extending to 100 gigabit/s via dual interfaces. The core processor is more than capable of handling the 48 gigabit/s data rate required for full bandwidth source 8K. Additional LVB440 features include JPEG XS analysis, closed captioning measurement, rolling packet capture measurement, 7.1 and 5.1 multichannel sound display and stereo mix-down monitoring.
