MAVIS Broadcast announces SaaS partnership with ES Broadcast

Cloud-based live production specialist MAVIS Broadcast has announced a partnership with ES Broadcast that will see the systems integrator offer the MAVIS Live SaaS-based production platform to clients.

Under the agreement, ES Broadcast will be able to propose MAVIS Live, an ultra-low latency, cloud-based production platform, as part of its systems integration solutions.

MAVIS Live enables remote production for live events and provides the user with a suite of professional virtualised production tools including vision and audio mixing, instant replay, talkback, commentary, VT and graphics. Both progressive and interlaced workflows are supported.

MAVIS Live delivers increased fan engagement and commercial benefits

The platform is designed to help rights holders generate expanded commercial value and fan engagement thanks to its ability to publish live content direct to high-engagement channels including social, OTT, web and VOD.  and OTT, social and web.

Announcing the partnership, Patrick Holroyd, CEO for MAVIS Broadcast, said: “We are delighted to partner with a leading name in the broadcast space. ES Broadcast’s ability to supply cutting-edge hardware as well as high-quality system design provides a perfect platform from which our MAVIS Live software can enable a flexible remote production environment.

“With audience engagement high on the agenda, not to mention sustainability and reducing carbon footprints, it’s a great time to be able to roll out our solutions to ES Broadcast’s client base.”

Expanded remote production solutions

Jonathan Lyth, Group CTO for ES Broadcast, said: “it was important to us to expand our array of SaaS-based solutions – similar to the range of hardware options we offer. MAVIS Live is a highly capable remote production solution especially for mid-market applications and means we can cater for a much broader range of clients and budgets as remote workflows become more prevalent.

“Especially with remote production, it’s about making sure the end user gets the best fit and gives them the flexibility they need to handle different elements of a production from a range of locations.”

New Clear-Com V-Series IrisX Panel Shines Brighter Than Ever

The new V-Series IrisX™ IP Panel from Clear-Com® expands the capabilities of the original V-Series Iris™ Panel, delivering new thin-film-transistor (TFT) displays for increased brightness and better resolution combined with the V-Series Iris’ lower latency and increased port capacity.  Truly a modern panel, IrisX fits naturally into IP-based productions with AES67 connectivity and dual NIC connections. Magewell to Launch Advanced Live Encoder for Streaming and IP Workflows at IBC2022

Magewell is poised to unveil a powerful new flagship model in its Ultra Encode family of universal live media encoders for applications ranging from live streaming to IP-based production and AV-over-IP. The single-channel Ultra Encode AIO can encode one live input source – either HDMI or SDI – or mix video from the HDMI and SDI inputs into a combined output. Ultra Encode AIO supports multiple video encoding formats – including H.264, H.265, NDI®|HX 2, and the new NDI®|HX 3 – and a wide array of delivery protocols including RTMP, SRT, HLS, and TVU’s ISSP technology.

Magewell will debut the new encoder in stand 7.A40 at IBC2022.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Sebastian Richter

Spotlight on Sebastian Richter, Vice President Media Systems at Rohde & Schwarz.

We are currently in the middle of a transition phase with migration to several new technologies, from the move to IP-based infrastructure and the shift from linear to video-on-demand (VOD).
The question for all of us is how long that transition phase will last; it is going to be faster for some customers then for others – national broadcasters, for example – it will be a slower process.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Manfred Reitmeier

Now that OTT and VOD have become more mainstream, many commentators talk about traditional broadcast methods, like terrestrial transmission, being a thing of the past. With so many new platforms and non-traditional content services carving out a growing slice of the market, you can be forgiven for thinking that linear over-the-air television is on its way out. The reality is that the industry must strike a balance between meeting consumers’ shifting habits and the business and operational needs of content providers.

A switch in time: how KVM can unlock the future of broadcasting
Chris Smeeton

One of the major changes for broadcasters during the pandemic has been the shift towards remote production; by no means a new phenomenon in an IP environment, yet accelerated under lockdown to accommodate travel and gathering restrictions. A 2021 report found that almost 40% of broadcast professionals now employ remote production, up 9% on the previous year.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

The Cloud - a measured approach

Meeting the specification
Chris Smeeton

A good technical specification will detail precisely what is required, from the equipment to the cables connecting it. Many specifications will give  particular manufacturers and model numbers. On many occasions, this makes tendering simple and gives vendors a secure and fair way to bid.
