Radio San Marino and RSM Classic Upgrade with DHD RX2 and SX2 Audio Mixers Posted: 26/09/2022
Radio San Marino and RSM Classic Upgrade with DHD RX2 and SX2 Audio Mixers

Radio San Marino and RSM Classic have chosen DHD RX2 and SX2 audio mixers as key elements of a production system upgrade at their studios in San Marino City. The project forms part of a total rebuild conducted by Milan-based broadcast SI BVmedia.

"Radio San Marino and its sister channel needed a system that could be customised to suit their current workflow while retaining the freedom to allow future expansion," says Roberto Zeccara, Senior Project Manager at BVmedia. "DHD's RX2 and SX2 mixers were the preferred choice both on operational and technical grounds. The channels' DJs find them logical and intuitive to work with and their technical support staff appreciate the logical configuration, excellent signal quality and inherent robustness. Mixer settings such as source IDs and signal levels are clearly shown on touch screens incorporated into each mixing panel. DHD products also allow operators to transition easily from one mixer to another ."

PlayBox Neo Redefines Broadcast Playout with PlayBox Neo Suite

PlayBox Neo confirmed its ongoing leadership in media channel branding and playout at IBC 2022 exhibition with new introductions centered on the unified PlayBox Neo Suite. "Operational efficiency and flexibility are more important than ever for broadcasters and playout service providers as they compete for audience attention across terrestrial, cable, satellite and IP networks," says Pavlin Rahnev, CEO of PlayBox Neo. "Designed to interface with PlayBox Neo Suite, Capture Suite gives ingest staff the resources they need to handle multiple incoming content feeds rapidly and without stress. Also forming part of PlayBox Neo Suite, Media Gateway, which we announced and demonstrated at the show, elevates playout routing and distribution to a new level of versatility and affordability. It allows the entire process of playout routing and decoding to be handled in software, eliminating the capital outlay, maintenance charges and power costs needed to operate hardware routers, codecs and related devices."

BAOSN Transitions to REMI Productions With JVC

With a mission of delivering cost-effective, high-definition, quality broadcasts over the internet, the team behind the Bay Area Online Sports Network (BAOSN – pronounced ‘basin’) works hard to live up to these standards. Additionally, as the web-based network’s tagline states: “Game OnLive and Later,” its free content is not only livestreamed, but also made available online for several years.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Sebastian Richter

Spotlight on Sebastian Richter, Vice President Media Systems at Rohde & Schwarz.

We are currently in the middle of a transition phase with migration to several new technologies, from the move to IP-based infrastructure and the shift from linear to video-on-demand (VOD).
The question for all of us is how long that transition phase will last; it is going to be faster for some customers then for others – national broadcasters, for example – it will be a slower process.

The Future of Broadcast Technology
Manfred Reitmeier

Now that OTT and VOD have become more mainstream, many commentators talk about traditional broadcast methods, like terrestrial transmission, being a thing of the past. With so many new platforms and non-traditional content services carving out a growing slice of the market, you can be forgiven for thinking that linear over-the-air television is on its way out. The reality is that the industry must strike a balance between meeting consumers’ shifting habits and the business and operational needs of content providers.

A switch in time: how KVM can unlock the future of broadcasting
Chris Smeeton

One of the major changes for broadcasters during the pandemic has been the shift towards remote production; by no means a new phenomenon in an IP environment, yet accelerated under lockdown to accommodate travel and gathering restrictions. A 2021 report found that almost 40% of broadcast professionals now employ remote production, up 9% on the previous year.

Cloud integration: The only way is up
Francois Vaillant

In 2017 we saw the introduction of SMPTE 2110 and since then, the transition to IP has emerged as a priority for broadcasters looking to streamline their operations, decrease their footprint and effectively integrate with an industry in a rapid state of flux. A 2020 survey by Devoncroft found that almost 20% of broadcasters had already deployed SMPTE 2110, and over 25% were planning to do so. Then came the pandemic, precipitating the need for on-the-fly collaboration and accelerating the transition to remote, virtual and cloud production.

Meeting the specification
Chris Smeeton

A good technical specification will detail precisely what is required, from the equipment to the cables connecting it. Many specifications will give  particular manufacturers and model numbers. On many occasions, this makes tendering simple and gives vendors a secure and fair way to bid.
