After buying a new DSLR camera with video function one usually works hard at getting good shots. It then becomes obvious that the selection of the proper tripod is crucial for clean horizontal and vertical panning. Sachtler, a brand of the Vitec Group, offers a variety of fluid heads in different weight classes that also fulfill the special requirements of small and medium-sized cameras. Sachtler’s small FSB heads are perfect for working with DSLRs because they operate with the reliable technology of large fluid heads. Also, the newly-designed ENG/EFP heads Video 18 S1 and Video 20 S1 can be used with DSLR cameras, because when working with different types of accessories such as lenses or displays, the camera set-up equipment often weighs more than 15 kilos. This is when a 100 mm tripod is needed for working precisely with the relatively small DSLRs.
The flexible FSB series offers compact fluid heads, starting at one kilogram payload and equipped with professional product details, in the 75 mm range for Minis up to Maxis. The heads have a sturdy case, 3 to 5 grades of drag and a counterbalance that corresponds to the payload. The FSB head can be selected according to the different payload ranges best suited for the respective shooting conditions: FSB 4 (0 to 4 kg), FSB 6 (1 to 6 kg) or FSB 8 (1 to 9 kg). Especially with long focal lengths it is vital that the tripod is stable and that panning can be done smoothly and without wobbling. All heads operate with the reliable Sachtler Speedbalance technology that allows a fast and targeted counterbalancing of the camera set. No compromises are possible when it comes down to the grades of drag. Based on the patented construction principals of the classic Sachtler heads, the FSB series offers an extremely smooth and finely-graded drag compared with other manufacturers. In this way nothing can interfere with creative and professional work.

THE REMAKE OF A CLASSIC
The ENG/EFP heads Video 18 and Video 20 by Sachtler belong to the classics among the video heads. The Video 18 is the number one of the News heads. The recent reconstruction of the fluid heads marked S1 have now a counterbalance that has been expanded to 16 grades for extremely fine tuning. The heads can also be used with DSLR cameras with Full HD Video functions in the payload range starting at two kilos. Especially the relatively high density of the tripods in relationship to the camera provides for much greater panning precision. The Boost Button ensures that the counterbalance can be adjusted quickly. In addition, new features, such as an especially ergonomic turning knob for counterbalancing and parking positions for camera screws, ensure more effcient working. Sachtler continues to rely on seven grades of drag, horizontal and vertical, for their heads. Furthermore, the fluid heads are equipped with the Sachtler Speedbalance technology, a Touch & Go plate and tap holes for adapter viewfinder extension.
STABILITY FOR STEADY PICTURES
Sachtler offers the camera stabilizing system artemis DV specifically for DSLR filmers. It has a low dead weight of only one kilogram and can be carried with one hand. If necessary, the other hand can be used to follow the picture exactly. By holding it in his hand, the cameraman is thus able to guide the camera smoothly. Artemis DV offers greatest stability, rigid torsion and avoidance of wobbling while shooting, because the arc segments are milled to one piece. The artemis arc has an innovative Dynamic Balance technology so the counterbalance can be graded even finer. When Sachtler FSB fluid heads are used it is necessary to use the same type of camera plate to allow a quicker change of the camera from the tripod to artemis DV.
