Rent-a case, the answer to transporting LCDs?

Over the last few years we have seen the release of hundreds of new plasma LCDs LEDs and now 3D LED with new models from new manufactures being released with what seems like every day. The huge growth in the sector has driven down the cost of production allowing companies to be very creative in how and which way to use the screens. For example we now see large screens advertising in post offices, banks, and every kind of event and exhibition. Either showing us the latest newly released product or displaying a map to the nearest amenities.
As fragility comes with using large unwieldy screens this creates an ever increasing need to safely transport them from job to venue.
Often the best protection for a screen and peripherals is seen as a flight case. In many instances companies have been advised by their own insurance firms to use heavy duty transport flight cases.
Many people can see the benefits in spending money protecting new expensive screens but what about the screens that are old and heavily used?
Many flight case companies will re-foam cases to new equipment, giving them a second use. However some screens will not fit the old cases, the old cases are still in use or the cost of re-foaming cases is just too much.
The need to transport these screens is just as vital.
However the economy in safely transporting them is not practical often meaning that the screens are stored and transported in cardboard boxes. Where the humble cardboard box provides some support, after initial use and being put into the backs of vans and Lorries the durability of the cardboard box does seem to decrease substantially.
Another option is to have padded bags. With relative success the use of padded bags is a good economical way of covering screens for light usage but the bags do keep them vulnerable to knocks drops and having the screen relatively exposed causes a problem with the reliability of your kit arriving at a job in good working condition.
On many occasions screens are only needed for a short space of time before either being resold or returned. This would make the choice of a customized flight case a good, but very expensive option especially if the screen was a relatively low initial cost.
At Oakleigh cases we have developed a cheap alternative to padded bags and the initial cost of flight cases. We have recently launched a Rent-a-case service that allows customers to rent a heavy duty flight case for plasma screens. With a range of cases spanning from 32”-52” the cases are made from durable 9mm birch ply with a Hexigrip textured finish, this makes sure that the kit can withstand the most demanding situations, creating a case that is easily customizable for practically every screen on the market. Using the exact same procedure materials and fitting as on all of our plasma cases makes them extremely durable allowing you reliability and peace of mind transporting your kit.
Whether it be for just a single day, or an entire month we can provide a durable case to be used as long as you need it. The cases are designed to take a Unicol bracket or a desk stand. Making sure at the end of a job putting a screen into a case is the last thing you are thinking about.
As well as our range rentable plasma cases 19” racks and 4ft road trunks we also sell fully bespoke flight cases and foam inserts.

University and Mental Health
Rhiannon Jenkins University study and mental health has been in the media quite a bit over the last year, and I’m sure there are many people wondering what is going on? The issues are complex, and I suppose the focus of employability off the back of a degree course has raised the stress stakes for a lot of young people. I’m only qualified to talk about this from my perspective, and my story began when I joined a course not knowing I had a mental health condition.
