The Importance of Audio Production Systems
Large-scale entertainment programming presents a unique set of challenges for broadcasters. Often extremely high-profile keystones of a broadcaster’s schedule and increasingly billed as live ‘event television’, as well as delivering the very best audio quality they demand a huge degree of flexibility and agility in terms of their production. With music being such a core component of their appeal to growing audiences, in both linear broadcast and online, nowhere is that more important than their audio production systems. |

The party is not over until the video is online
When we were introduced to the team behind Sensation dance events in Amsterdam they had one big question for Timecode Systems: could our SyncBac VR wireless sync and control solution theoretically make it possible for a high quality, professional 360-degree video of a live dance music event to be edited in the time it takes the DJ to fly to his or her next gig? Intrigued by what our solution could help them achieve, in July they invited us to film at one of their iconic dance music events. Billed as The Final it was a sell-out farewell party to mark the last Sensation event in Amsterdam. |

The business case for media asset management
You could argue that, so far, there have been two stages of commercial justification for asset management systems in broadcasting. First, it was a necessary evil: if broadcasters, production companies and other media organizations wanted to store content as filesat least some of the timethey needed a means of finding it again.
Once broadcasters had a comprehensive index to all of their content, and could find clips and programs again quickly, there existed the potential to earn new revenues from them, ushering in the second stage. Video and audio recordings are among the principal business assets of broadcasters and production companies, and making the best use of those assets, by re-using them whenever possible, is simply good commercial sense. |

Digital media services need more than just standard protection
Standards are conceived in abstract. They are set up and negotiated between interested parties in a process that can last several years, with each party to the negotiations pressing its own case, and the standard that emerges at the conclusion is usually compromised in some way. At worst it can simply be a lowest-common-denominator that reflects the political wrangling of the committee that spawned it. Wriggle room is usually left for different flavours of the standard, to allow for the features that one party favoured, but which conflicted with another party's interest. |

The IP Solution - intercom systems without extensive new cabling
When a broadcasting or TV station wants to install a new intercom system in its broadcast centre or headquarters - or wishes to replace its entire intercom system - it is faced with two big investments. One concerns the capital investment in terms of hardware and software. This will include investment in equipment such as the intercom matrix, keypanels and accessories. The second concerns the installation and the commissioning itself, as a new system requires new cabling due to different standards and system topology. |

Ride on time

The highly competitive sport of track cycling emerged in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century as a way to continue the sport year round, and velodromes soon became a common sight on the Continent. Whether indoors or out, track cycling is one of the world's most intriguing spectator sports and, as such, new ways of bringing its drama to multi-platform viewers are constantly being sought. |
