The future is smaller, more powerful batteries
Steve Emmett High-quality cameras are getting smaller and lighter all the time, making them suitable for new applications. Nearly every production we see today includes shots acquired by drone and gimbal mounted cameras. The batteries required to power these cameras have to meet new criteria.

Covering the Winter Games for Broadcast
Mel Noonan This was written a few days before the opening ceremony so news arriving from the front line is of last minute angst for some of the tech teams who go out and perform daily miracles in such unuser-friendly locations year after year. Camera platforms erected in the wrong place, cables lost under a recent snowfall, cables eventually found but now destroyed by an avalanche...you know the kind of thing. All this and more just in the last few days. There needs to be medals for the tech teams.

PAGlink reviewed
Jon Pratchett Up until recently I always thought that a battery was, well just a battery. After all its just a load of cells strung together and put in some kind of case right? Well apparently not, it seems that there is a bit more to it than that, and the folks at PAG were keen to prove this by providing me with a set of their PL96e V-Mount Batteries to test.

[author]
When choosing the right lens for your project, there are a huge range of options to choose from that depend entirely on your individual project and your needs. You need to think about the quality of filming you require, where the content will be placed, what camera you will be using to shoot it and how you plan to store it before being able to make a sensible choice. And with the emergence of 4K technology and the possibility of publishing content online, the range of choices becomes even greater. Where on earth do you start?

LED lighting for image creators
N/A Somehow I ended up on a growing number of LED Lighting equipment manufacturers e-mail mailing lists. Most of them were from China, some from the States and elsewhere. They must have thought that, as we supply broadcast, film and video lighting, that we would be interested in LED lighting. They were right.
