Restoring The World At War
N/A Originally broadcast in 1973 by ITV, the sweeping documentary The World at War focuses on the events immediately before, during, and after World War II. The British-produced television series is presented in 26 hour-long episodes and provides one of the most penetrating views into the war ever put to film

Post Production
N/A The global financial downturn is having a significant impact on every industry and television is suffering too. The programme budgets of most channels are being held or cut making the costs of producing content significant in the decision on whether programmes and series are aired. Yet the demand remains for bigger, bolder and more cinematic styles and effects in television programmes. The challenge to post-production is how to achieve these high production values but at the same time reducing costs.

Making the content factory a reality
N/A The expression content factory has been around for a while and in a number of contexts. Is this a realistic concept? Can we producers, facilities, broadcasters embrace the idea of process in the manufacturing sense, or is making content for television and the new digital platforms too different to making biscuits or cars?

Post Production Recipes
N/A Multi-camera editing adds zest to any video production. It captures an event - a moment - from different angles, conveying a comprehensive and nuanced message. Often underrated, sound is a key ingredient in the mix. For the highest quality sound, separately recorded (dual-system) audio is the preferred technique.

USB 3 King of Connectivity
N/A They call it SuperSpeed, and for a very good reason. USB 3.0 boasts a data throughput of 4.8 Gb/s. Weve long known this ubiquitous I/O technology as the Universal Serial Bus, and the improvements gained by USB 3.0 over USB 2.0, along with its backward compatibility, have already shown the USB king of connectivity is going to undoubtedly retain its throne for the foreseeable future.

3D diaries -Fix it in post. Dont go there
Bob Pank# The more I look into it the more scary 3D is. Researching for 3D Diaries shows there are so many pitfalls and traps that would be all too easy to fall into; enough to put people off the whole idea! The answer is simply to learn about the subject before seriously jumping in with both feet. Clearly it adds a whole new layer to all parts of the scene-to-screen chain. In each link there are traps to avoid, and avoid them you must, because getting it wrong produces unwatchable results.

Splitting Image
N/A The traditional CRT monitor stack is now all but consigned to the annals of history. Not the vain claim of some clever marketing agency or the opening pitch of a sharp dressed sales rep but more the demise of a technology that is becoming less and less available. While manufacturers still have a few CRT models available in their portfolio weve seen them becoming less and less as the market has moved to different technologies.

Turning walls into Canvases
N/A Christie MicroTiles™ is the new digital canvas. It’s an entirely new, modular display technology that uses elements of DLP®, LED and rear-projection to create unique, visually compelling systems. It lets designers turn walls into near-seamless digital canvases.

19inch Racking, an evolution

How to Automate HD
N/A HD movies are on average more than three times larger in size than the equivalent SD movie. Naturally therefore, HD material requires more storage and longer to transfer from the archive/storage to the transmission path. Managing these increased file sizes and optimally controlling the bandwidth is one of the main challenges which need to be addressed when it comes to automating HD. So how do we do it?
