After all the discussion, rumours and site visits BVE moved to ExCel in what was probably the most well attended UK trade show for many years – if not all time. Visitor numbers are often a marketing game so we’ll gloss over these but the key thing that stood out for me at BVE was the optimism of both exhibitors (after about 2 hours into day 1) and visitors alike. We had the opportunity to roam the hall interviewing exhibitors during the mornings and given the pessimistic view of some prior to the show it was great to see stands rammed with people wanting to see, hold and try out the latest gear. You can read all about our activities at BVE on page 38 and see the footage from the live shows and the stand interviews at www.broadcastshow.com So we are straight out of BVE, in to CABSAT and then on to NAB all within about 6 weeks. This issue is our NAB preview and you’ll find loads of news inside on products about to be released in Las Vegas in April. Can’t get there, too busy, no budget? Don’t worry; we have a cunning plan… Firstly we will be streaming a live hour long show from NAB each day (5pm UK time) to keep you up to date with what has been announced, released and updated at the biggest media event in the world. Anything you particularly want to see or hear then just email me or tweet @broadcastshow, you can watch the live show at www.broadcastshow.com/live. Secondly we know you’ll be wanting to get your hands on all this gear and IBC is just too long to wait! So if you can’t get to the gear then we’ll bring it to you….starting May 9th we are taking to the road with BroadcastShow in our inaugural UK tour visiting London, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol. With us will be many leading manufacturers and distributors showing the latest kit on offer with a very hands on approach ensuring you get to not only see but to try out what’s on offer. But that’s not all…..the icing on the cake are two of the industry’s best known speakers Jonathan Harrison and Rick Young who will be at every venue with seminars that you just won’t want to miss covering everything from cameras to lighting to pro editing. More details on page 39. It’s 100% free to come along but due to the popularity spaces may be limited so be sure to register now for a venue near you www.broadcastshow.com/tour.
