Edius 7 launches with 4K
and Blackmagic support
E dius 7 launches in July with major new features that
make the software more appealing than ever.
Available for purchase (not as a time-limited
subscription), Edius 7 is 10-bit non-linear editing
software for native, real-time, multi-layer editing. For
2013 Edius now delivers extensive 4K format editing,
enabling users to deliver the highest image quality
without transcoding to an intermediate codec. It
supports new formats including 4K M-JPEG for Canon
1DC, XAVC Intra 4K for the new generation of Sony
PMW-F5/F55 cameras and AVC-Intra 200 and AVC-
Long G, in support of Panasonics new camcorders. Its
new exporter writes H.264 4K files at up-to 200Mb/s.
The second significant move is support for 3rd party
hardware and software. Workstations and laptops can
now use input / output boards from Blackmagic Design
such as the DeckLink Mini Monitor, Intensity Pro and
UltraStudio Pro and the Matrox MX02 currently just
for monitoring. Grass Valley engineers are currently
certifying many other Matrox and AJA cards.
