WORLD NEWS Edius 7 launches with 4K and Blackmagic support E dius 7 launches in July with major new features that make the software more appealing than ever. Available for purchase (not as a time-limited subscription), Edius 7 is 10-bit non-linear editing software for native, real-time, multi-layer editing. For 2013 Edius now delivers extensive 4K format editing, enabling users to deliver the highest image quality without transcoding to an intermediate codec. It supports new formats including 4K M-JPEG for Canon 1DC, XAVC Intra 4K for the new generation of Sony PMW-F5/F55 cameras and AVC-Intra 200 and AVC- Long G, in support of Panasonics new camcorders. Its new exporter writes H.264 4K files at up-to 200Mb/s. The second significant move is support for 3rd party hardware and software. Workstations and laptops can now use input / output boards from Blackmagic Design such as the DeckLink Mini Monitor, Intensity Pro and UltraStudio Pro and the Matrox MX02 currently just for monitoring. Grass Valley engineers are currently certifying many other Matrox and AJA cards. Advantage Calrec C alrec Audio have announced that British outside broadcast (OB) specialist NEP Visions used a network of Calrec digital consoles to provide HD and 3D coverage at the Wimbledon Championships, the oldest tennis tournament in the world. NEP Visions had a 56f Apollo in its Atlantic truck covering 3D broadcasts from the Championships and a 56f Artemis Beam console from one of its popular flypack kits. In addition, NEP Visions used additional 40f and 24f Artemis Beam rental desks from Calrec installed as a single 64f console. Edius now also integrates with DaVinci Resolve for a complete round trip editing and grading workflow, based on EDL import and export. (ON), to upgrade its audio and projection equipment.  ON provides audio and visual production services for corporate and live events. The company purchased two Panasonic 10K HD DZ110XE projectors and two Panasonic 7K DZ770EK HD projectors plus accessories, and L-Acoustics XT and ARCS WIDE Constant Curvature loudspeakers. The audio equipment was purchased through SSE Audio Group and the projectors from Midwich.
