If you’re not a regular reader of tv-bay Magazine and have picked this up at either BVE London or CABSAT Dubai then welcome and along with many others we hope you enjoy this packed issue of news, opinion, technology and features! With ISE, BVE, CABSAT and NAB trade shows in quick succession the time to launch new kit is truly upon us with, not unsurprisingly, a wealth of 4k offerings. The featured theme this month is based around acquisition and given that over 500,000 4k TV’s are expected to sell in the USA alone in 2014 then creating content seems a good place to start. On page 46 Will Strauss looks at six major pro’s of the format and the cameras currently on offer with Bob Pank explaining the excitement behind 4k on page 56. Not another mention of 4k on this page I promise (there are another 95 mentions within though)! Aside from trade shows there’s a bit of a Pinewood focus in this issue. If you came to the BroadcastShow Tour last year you may have attended Heatherden Hall at Pinewood Studios. Many readers did and as we build up to the May 2014 roadshow Derek Hall writes about his thoughts and experiences during the day spent. See what he has to say on page 88. If it sounds too good to miss and you can get to London, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham or Bristol then register now at and we’ll keep you posted on everything going on this year. We were back at Pinewood Studios last month where tv-bay partnered with the ITTP (The Institute for Training in Television Production) and welcomed over 180 educational and training professionals to meet, network, listen and take part in a day of discussions over how the next generation of industry professionals should be trained ready for work. The esteemed panel of speakers included BBC Training and Sky Academy leaders as well as many high profi le professionals and educators. The day was split into fi ve topic areas sometimes sitting uncomfortably in some camps but nevertheless making for a lively discussion throughout with wholly positive outcomes. To get a full round up take a look at Dick Hobb’s review of the day on page 82 and you can view the recorded panel sessions on the gallery page of Keep up to date with tv-bay Magazine online if you prefer at or register for your very own print copy on Production Editor Matt Robbins, Advertising Jonathan Highett, Accounts Lucy Turner, Events Selen Sevket, Subscriptions Layout and artwork Dan Butler, +44 (0)1635 250 968 Back copies Can be seen online at...
