NEWS NAB PREVIEW Booth C3607 Panasonic Booth SL5019 Matrox M atrox Video and Matrox Graphics Inc. will be sharing a stand at the NAB Show. Matrox Video will showcase video streaming and recording appliances, live production streaming systems, 4k video monitoring cards, multiviewers, scan converters and developer products. Matrox Monarch HD is a small, easy-to-use H.264 encoder designed for professional video producers who need to simultaneously stream a live event and record a mastering-quality version for post-event editing. From any HDMI input source such as a camera or switcher, Matrox Monarch HD generates an H.264- encoded stream compliant with RTSP or RTMP protocol. While encoding the video at bitrates suitable for live streaming, Monarch HD simultaneously records a high- quality MP4 or MOV fi le to an SD card, a USB drive, or a network- mapped drive. It is remotely controlled using any computer or mobile device with a web browser. P anasonic will debut its new camera that shoots 4k raw - the Varicam 35 and will demonstrate the third-generation VariCam® - the VariCam HS. The Varicam 35 incorporates a newly-developed super 35mm MOS image sensor and complements the company’s current AVC-ULTRA family of video codecs. With superb image handling in multiple formats including 4k, UHD, 2K and HD and variable frame rates up to 120 frames per second - the camera promises to be ideal for high- end fi lmmaking commercials and episodic production, as well as live 4k events. Panasonic will also use NAB to present the next generation of P2 solid-state recording media - the expressP2 card. Specifi cally designed to accommodate 4k image capture, the expressP2 card offers fast transfer speeds (up to 2.4Gbps.), meaning an hour of 4k footage can be transferred within around ten minutes. The expressP2 card AU-XP0256A contains a fl ash memory error correction system, equivalent to a RAID system, to recover from a failure in a sector, page, or entire block. Booth SL6325 Broadcast Pix B roadcast Pix have introduced ReVue, a new HD slow motion replay system that work with any Broadcast Pix integrated production systems or independently in other production environments. Developed in collaboration with strategic partner EditShare, ReVue will be available in March and demonstrated at the 2014 NAB Show. Available in two and four-channel confi gurations, ReVue features SDI connectivity and up to eight tracks of embedded audio, with optional 1080p recording and playback. The system is housed in a 2 RU chassis and includes 8 TB of RAID 6 storage, which can be expanded up to 16 TB. Sonnet Technologies A t this year’s NAB, Sonnet Technologies will highlight the newest innovations in its award-winning Echo™ Express family of PCI Express® (PCIe®) expansion products. The versatile Echo Express systems facilitate mobile and on-location workflows by enabling any Mac® computer equipped with Thunderbolt™ 2 or Thunderbolt ports to interface with a wide variety of high-performance PCIe cards originally designed only for use in desktop computers.
