This month we are looking at just that whilst encompassing such issues as piracy, AVB, dialogue searching and (no prizes for fi nding it) a reference to Mo Farrah and fl ip fl ops… Most readers will be familiar with SDI and its standard connection has been on most kit in the fi eld and edit suite for many years. However with ever more generic IT technology emerging within our industry Will Strauss has taken a look at the facility of the future utilising AVB (Audio Video Bridging) in what some see as game changing technology for the industry. We may associate streaming with live content but this isn’t always the way of course. This month we welcome the king of streaming, Larry Jordan, with his in-depth look at what you want to accomplish from your stream. How important is “live” and what control do you want over the published fi les amongst other things. One event that is being streamed right at this very moment of course is the Tour De France, now in full fl ow and whilst the recent tv-bay Tour didn’t have any yellow jerseys it did draw in the crowds (ok… not 2 million) from London, Manchester and Birmingham with record numbers coming along to get hands on with the vast array of kit on show plus a unique chance to listen, and question, a leading line-up of speakers including Philip Bloom, Larry Jordan and Alister Chapman. Each day culminated in our very own podium with a battle of wits between all the speakers giving their opinions of technology and answering questions from the packed audiences. If you missed it then take a look at a snapshot on page 38 and sign up to come along when we do it all over again (even bigger!) in November (www.tvbayshow.com/tour) where you can also see footage of some of the sessions. Aside from distribution and delivery this issue is packed full of news, comment and opinion with this month’s feature review looking at Sony’s new UWP-D11 series mics.
