NEWS Funding new Avid edit suites F ineline Media Finance has provided funding to MAMA Youth Project (MYP) to purchase two Avid Media Composer Symphony edit suites, as the charity upgrades its equipment to HD. Each year MYP recruits and trains 48 disadvantaged young people aged between 16-25 in a range of core production skills including research, camera work, lighting and sound operation, location-fi nding, editing, and production paperwork. As part of the training programme participants work together to produce six episodes of What’s Up, a magazine-style show that has recently moved from Pick TV (formerly Sky 3) to Sky 1, demonstrating its high production values. The Avid Media Composer Symphony systems, including hardware and monitors, are part of an upgrade to HD that allows the production to adhere to Sky 1 standards, and ensures that the trainees gain valuable experience on the latest equipment.
