Welcome ISSUE 95: NOVEMBER 2014 www.kitplus.com A pple recently announced their new iMac with retina display. With the same overall design as previous models it gives a 5120 x 2880 (5k) resolution. To save the maths that’s 7x 1080p and 67% more than a 4k panel. Reports are staggering with comments such as “I just want to stare at it” not uncommon. It’s timely in the fact that this is our monitoring issue of Kitplus and inside you’ll find a stack of monitoring type knowledge from studio to quality conformance. Lack of audio coverage is common place in many pro video and broadcast publications but close to our hearts and continuing the monitoring theme we asked Sennheiser to give us some hints and tips on wireless production, from transmitting to receiving they seem to have it all covered! Way back in issue 29 we met with Joseph from AILTV (Africans in London TV) where he described his set-up and kit being used. Now some years later we have revisited his facility looking at the new equipment but more importantly what he does with it with a few challenges thrown in along the way. Just how educators are preparing the next generation is always a hot topic and on January 27th 2015 the second ITTP (Institute for Training in Television & Production) conference will gather at Pinewood Studios to discuss how businesses and universities can engage for mutual benefi t. With support from BT Sport and BSkyB the ITTP Approved Trainee Scheme will be launched at the conference so defi nitely one to watch. The event is open to all with tickets available at www.ittp.org.uk. If you’re reading this in either Shoreditch or MediaCityUK then you probably made it to our roadshow and no doubt enjoyed the seminars on 4k lighting, latest camera tech and “all you need to know about drones” to name just a few! With many exhibitors on board and workshops going on all day then we’ll have a full round up next month as well as seminar highlight video links.
