NEWS MANIPULATE & EDIT German manufacturers VFX Salzbrenner’s POLARIS evolution network mixing console will be amongst the products being showcased by Aspen Media at BVE 2015. One of five German manufacturers on stand L30, Salzbrenner will also display POLARIS evolutions Scala, the new digital mixing DSP that can be shared by multiple users over a network via Ethernet, internet or WiFi using an access panel or mobile device. The other companies represented by Aspen Media at BVE will be RTW, with its range of audio and loudness meters, MADI specialist DirectOut Technologies, intercom firm DELEC and Junger Audio. The latter will demo its D*AP4 VAP EDITION voice processor, a two-channel audio toolkit for TV and radio voice recording Boris FX has bought Imagineer Systems, the UK-based developer of the Planar Tracking and masking tools. The newly merged company will “build upon the strengths of both development teams to become the leading software firm specializing in post-production plug-ins and tools for editorial, visual effects and motion graphics design,” a statement said. Boris Yamnitsky, founder and chief executive of Boris FX, added: “Imagineer Systems has the best-of-breed motion tracking, masking and rig removal technology. The company’s engineering and product design expertise perfectly complement Boris FX’s own highly regarded team of visual effects software developers and industry specialists. Both Boris Continuum Complete and mocha Pro will greatly benefit from combining our resources and technologies, as will the many mutual customers we serve.” The team behind Imagineer’s Mocha were honored by the Academy of Motion Pictures in 2013 with a Science and Engineering Award. www.aspen-media.com Appointment ERA’s Lava has appointed former Escape Technology technical sales director Phil Darkin as its head of business development. Based at the company’s offices in Soho, he will be responsible for building the Lava brand and promoting the company’s products and services across VFX, architectural design, TV and film.
