Welcome ISSUE 97: JANUARY 2015 F www.kitplus.com irstly a very Happy New Year. 2015 is sure to keep 4k at forefront of interest for industry media, manufacturers and content providers everywhere. As far as investing in consumer UHD screens then with a plethora just unveiled at CES Las Vegas earlier this month then the temptation is becoming too great to avoid! This issue is featuring post production and no doubt, alongside 4k coverage, this year could be the year the cloud is demystifi ed and comes of age with companies like Forbidden Technologies continuing to revolutionise how we work. Put aside concerns of bandwidth issues (including 4k), special knowledge and content security and take a read of our cloud editing article on page 64. Is this the year you move away from the status quo and edge towards the cloud? New years are full of resolutions and predictions and we’d be amiss not to include the thoughts of Larry Jordan in this post production issue. After a year (and a career) talking and writing about key industry movers and shakers Larry presents his seven trends he expects to dominate 2015. Take a look on page 48. If your New Year resolution is to take on post grad or junior staff then it’s not too late to grab yourself a seat at the forthcoming ITTP Conference on 27th January at Pinewood Studios. In fact anyone with an interest or infl uence in training the next generation of our industry really needs to be there to listen and maybe comment on how education and business are now engaging. Aside from panel lead discussions during the day there will also be plenty of networking time and a chance to visit the Sony demo centre at Pinewood after the event. Finally don’t forget to get registered for BVE next month. As the offi cial BVE video channel we’ll be bringing live shows and more to your desktop each day with our anchor man Den Lennie and the fl oor roaming Jon Pratchett; nothing though will be as good as being there so just visit this link for your pass www.bvexpo.com/tvbay. I hope the ease in to January is a smooth one for you and we wish you a prosperous 2015. Enjoy the issue...
