NEWS MANAGE & MONITOR 4k Testing PHABRIX continues to release innovative new products and with the introduction of the Qx supporting 4K UHDTV up to 12 Gbps, this year’s NAB is no exception. Designed as a complete solution for testing the new UHDTV formats, the Qx delivers its power due to the extensive research and application of the latest FPGA’s available, many of which have only just been made available. The key differentiator of the new instrument is its ability to offer both video and audio support along with 12G physical layer analysis (eye and jitter) needed to test UHDTV1 and UHDTV2 infrastructures. Timing is important in this domain and along with a comprehensive solution across standards, the Qx provides VANC and ANC data, SDI data view, an inbuilt generator and full gearboxing between standards. Support for Higher frame rates and HDR are all part of the new technology. The interface choice includes BNC and dual SFP for optical or 10G Ethernet. Positioned as a future proofed solution for 4K UHDTV1 and UHDTV2, the Qx will be the product of NAB 2015 on the PHABRIX stand at N7922. 2G Digital, a major provider of post-production services for many of the world’s largest movie and television studios, has joined the growing number of media companies choosing Leader’s LV5490 SD/HD/4K waveform monitor. The instrument is being used at 2G Digital’s corporate headquarters, 280 East Magnolia Blvd, in the downtown Burbank Media Center district. “The LV5490 is being used in our new 4K bay which we have established as part of our strategy of being a full-service media post facility,” comments Stephen Buchsbaum, President and Chief Executive Offi cer of 2G Digital. “The 4K format offers content producers and distributors tremendous opportunities in both high-end digital and broadcast content creation. We pride ourselves on the quality of our signal processing chain and the skills of our technical team. The LV5490 helps us ensure that completed 4K content matches the high expectations of the studios and content producers.” Equipped with eight input connectors, the Leader LV5490 accepts up to two 4K signals simultaneously. In the 4K video format mode, 3G-SDI dual link or quad link are supported. Up to four 3G-SDI dual link 4K video inputs or up to two 3G-SDI quad link 4K video inputs can be displayed (selectable). Two sets of HD-SDI dual link signals can be displayed (selectable). In the SDI mode, up to four signals can be displayed simultaneously. The LV5490 is also equipped to handle video signals via two-sample interleave as well as square division. Two-sample interleave is the approved standard for 4K.
