Welcome ISSUE 101: MAY 2015 N AB is the place for many to release new products, updates and show case futuristic tech demos. One thing you could not fail to spot last month was the amount of drone activity across all halls, even exhibitors that seemingly had nothing to do with aerial content had a drone on their stand. Long gone is the limited choice of a white drone with a GoPro; the number of new manufacturers, all I am sure with their varying pro’s and con’s, was huge and shows the accessibility and demand for this type of kit. Aside from dodging the drones we spent much of our time in Las Vegas chatting to exhibitors and you can see the most comprehensive NAB video collection on as well as scanning any QR codes you see within the news pages. In this months Audio rich issue you’ll discover articles ranging from must haves for sound recordists to our report from Cannes where an invite from Sennheiser saw us sample first hand their newly launched AVX series. It seems manufacturers have never been trying harder to train and education the industry whether by roadshow, tradeshow or dedicated event. RED have a series of “REDUCATION” workshops running so we sent Ben Sherriff along, who was keen to get his hands dirty on such technology, to learn more about what seems to be a religion for some, and report back. Read his thoughts on page 70. With education in mind we are hitting the road again in June for our biggest Tour yet! We’ll be in Manchester’s MediaCity on 9 th June and then following the massive popularity of our last event in London we’ll not only be doubling the floor space but also the time we spend in Shoreditch spanning the 11 th and 12 th June. Check out the new website for all the information as there will be different seminars, workshops and sessions on each day. It’s free to come along and you’ll be welcomed by numerous manufacturers with new kit to show, get to see our new camera bar, lighting workshop as well as networking in the BVE bar. What better way to spend a day in the summer! Register at or just scan this QR code….
