RF Cobham showcased its PRORXD receiver platform, which includes 1080p60 4:2:2 10-bit decoding capabilities, at Broadcast Asia. The receiver is available in a 1RU or 2RU configuration. The PRORXD’s decoding algorithm has been specially engineered by Cobham to ensure full compatibility with all leading encoders, and each configuration can decode separate HD signals, including MPEG2 HD if required, which makes it a dual COFDM and IP receiver/decoder. A core benefit of the system is that its bit rate encoding capacity automatically adjusts to compensate for various rates of contention on IP networks, which is particularly valuable when using Ka-band and BGAN satellite systems to ensure optimum quality. Distribution amplifiers Crystal Vision has launched the MADDA105 and MADDA111 MADI distribution amplifiers. Designed for applications where a large amount of audio needs to be transported as a block, they take in a MADI data stream usually containing up to 64 mono audio channels and create up to eleven copies of this data stream which can then be sent to different places. They include the essential features for a MADI DA with cost-effective non- reclocked outputs and simple LED and GPI signal monitoring. MADDA105 and MADDA111 can distribute any MADI audio. They are said to be popular with customers already using Crystal Vision products as they share the standard Indigo frames. Playout Uganda’s Lighthouse Television has chosen a PlayBox Technology channel-in-a-box as part of a modernisation project at its studios in Kampala on the edge of Lake Victoria. The investment will help Lighthouse to advance from tape-based analogue operation to a file-based digital workflow. “Every broadcaster currently working in the analogue domain aspires to a file-based workflow,” said Gary Everett, station manager at Lighthouse Television, a family, educational and Christian television station. “The solution we have chosen will greatly extend the channel’s resources in terms of channel branding, including live control of animated graphics. It also provides a high degree of automation so we can operate confidently on a hands-off basis if required.” KITPLUS - THE TV-BAY MAGAZINE: ISSUE 102 JUNE 2015 | 27
