NEWS MANIPULATE & EDIT Audio consoles Cloud editing Al Jazeera Media Network has purchased seven Apollo digital audio consoles from Calrec Audio for its broadcast facility in Doha, Qatar.  The purchase is part of a full modernization of the Doha facility, which houses 24-hour operations for Al Jazeera’s English, Arabic, and Mubasher channels. The purchase marks the largest Apollo deployment in the Middle East and with it the creation of one of the world’s largest Hydra2 networks. “Al Jazeera Network is a fast-paced environment with no room for error and a desire for the highest standards,” said the lead audio specialist for Al Jazeera Network and the project, Allie Gaffoor. “We decided to use Calrec as our global standard for audio because we needed a reliable console for our 24/7 environment, ease of operator use, and longevity.” Paris-based IT services company Image In Network has become the first French reseller for Forscene, Forbidden Technologies’ professional cloud-based video editing software. calrec.com IP production More than two thirds of broadcasters and post facilities believe that the transition to an all-IP broadcast infrastructure will take at least five years to complete, the result of an industry wide survey suggests. Based on the responses of more than 1000 people from broadcasters and post houses around the world, the survey results provide an indication of how long it could take for IP to supersede traditional broadcast infrastructure. 19% of respondents thought that SDI routers would be completely replaced by IP within two years, 42% predicted it would happen within five years and 27% see it happening within ten years. A further 9% of respondents predicted that SDI would never be completely replaced.
