Channel branding Pixel Power has supplied 20 LogoVision automated graphics and channel branding systems - including a number of 3D devices - to Modern Times Group (MTG). The purchase is part of the Nordic broadcaster’s move to an automated playout centre in London that is responsible for delivering 10 free-to-air and 10 pay channels, each localised by country and by advertising regions. LogoVision 3D was chosen for the channel branding with dual channel LogoVisions being added to provide both SD and HD simulcast logos from a single device. The devices work under frame accurate control from the Pebble Beach Marina automation system. www.pixelpower.com Video delivery infrastructure Video transport Kartina TV has added Harmonic’s Electra XVM virtualized media processor to its OTT multiscreen delivery pipeline. The German- based Russian-language multi-channel TV service provider is using the media processing software for real-time HEVC encoding, allowing it to deliver 150 SD and 30 HD channels to subscribers on a variety of devices. The Electra XVM is built on Harmonic’s VOS virtualized media processing platform and architecture that operates on common hardware platforms in IT data centres. “As we expand our OTT multiscreen offering, bandwidth efficiency, video quality and flexibility are key,” said Dimitri Dietrich, chief technology officer at Kartina TV. Hutchison Drei, an Austrian telecommunications provider, has migrated to a new live video distribution platform based on the ViBE VS7000 multi-screen video encoding platform from Thomson Video Networks. Working in tandem with Broadpeak streaming technology, the ViBE VS7000 enables Drei to offer OTT video services to smartphone, tablet, PC/Mac and future- oriented TV streaming via Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay.
