NEWS MOVE & DELIVER Playout PlayBox Technology, a world leader in cost-effective television playout solutions, is reporting very strong interest in its new CloudAir platform, introduced mid-September at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam. “The IBC organisers claimed a record level of attendance this year which was refl ected on our stand throughout all fi ve days of the exhibition,” says Don Ash, Managing Director of PlayBox Technology (UK). “We ran continuous demonstrations of our entire product range, based on the established and proven AirBox which forms the core of the entire PlayBox Technology system. “Introduced at the show, CloudAir offers a gateway through which new television channels can be established without the usual preliminary investment in playout infrastructure. With the ability to confi gure agile workfl ows that support every element of the transmission process, the solution allows completely new approaches to providing effi cient and scalable models for linear playout, OTT services and OVP distribution. www.playbox.tv CDN On demand Broadpeak has announced an off-net CDN option specifi cally designed to optimise video delivery for content providers. The new service dynamically selects the most appropriate CDN when delivering content outside of the operator footprint. It addresses both on-net and off-net scenarios, allowing video content providers to select the local cache of an operator when the content is available for on-net subscribers, while dynamically choosing the best CDN service for off-net users that are outside of this footprint. Jacques Le Mancq, the chief executive of Broadpeak, said: “With this approach, operators and content providers can work together to ensure a superior QoE for end users, on any device, to drive new revenue and increase subscriber satisfaction.” More than seven in ten (71%) European consumers see room for improvement with their on-demand and live viewing experiences, new research carried out on behalf of Brightcove has revealed.
