Switchboard: +44 (0)1635 237 237 As we come to the end of another year, this month we take a look at the technologies and diversifications in our industry that will carry us forward into 2016. Editor: Simon Tillyer, simon@tv-bay.com Production Editor: Matt Robbins, matt@tv-bay.com As you’d expect the pages are stuffed full of 4k, UHD & HDR questions, theories, solutions and more questions addressing roadblocks such as the absence of a single UHD standard, lack of a defined workflow for UHD production & delivery, let alone the shortage of infrastructure and bandwidth. The medical sector has appeared within KitPlus in the past and on the topic of diversification this issue makes a return on two fronts from graphic presentations to streaming surgical procedures. Check them out on pages 56 and 64. Operations such as law enforcement and surveillance are also seeing an increased need for detailed, real-time pictures of rapidly changing events from various field locations. Established broadcast manufacturers are perfectly placed to step in, and they are, more on page 60 If you need inspiration in creating a feature film then do take a look on page 66 where the director behind new indie short “Exit Plan” reveals just what it took to write, crowd fund, shoot and grade his very own proof of concept for a science fiction feature. Back to reality, and whilst not wanting to take the shine off new technology, if a drone is on your Christmas list then have a look on page 46 where some potential pitfalls and hazards are highlighted. The media is awash with stories of hacking and drone technology is no different with the possibilities of jamming, and interception being very real – not science fiction!
