Welcome ISSUE 111: MARCH 2016 52 www.kitplus.com Welcome. BVE was a date in the diary for many thousands of people who gathered at ExCel last month for the UK’s largest media and production show. Some big names may have been missed but with around 350 exhibitors there really was something of value for everyone not to mention the leading line up of seminars and workshops (we covered CPD last month!) Magazine Office: PO Box 6090, Newbury, RG14 9BB, UK You may have already seen some of the interviews we did at the show as well as the studio shows we ran for the duration. One such show featured Larry Jordan and Thom Holliday from StreamAMG discussing streaming platforms, what to use and when. Larry is known the world over for his weekly 60 minute podcast and gives us a personal perspective this month on podcasts whether streamed live or on demand. Thom is commonly faced with new customers who have experienced the many perils and pitfalls of livestreaming and this month explores the challenges and benefits of streaming online video and audio. Production Editor: Matt Robbins, matt@tv-bay.com The issue is packed with connected issues and aside from streaming, one of our priorities at BVE was wireless links with crews roaming ExCel providing live links back to the studio (thank you VideoSys and also to RTS for talkback!). If you are looking at wireless camera transmissions then do take a look at Ask The Experts this month with 7 must-haves to point you in the right direction. NAB (April 16-21 Las Vegas) is the place where new technologies are often announced and this issue has a plethora of preview news to whet your appetites. 8k may well become the buzz word of the show but right now in the real world is 4k really a reality for live production? Take a look at where we are right now with 4k, Rec 2020 and HDR on page 60. If you’re over in Las Vegas do look us up and enjoy the show, if not then please subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest content coming directly from the show.
