NEWS CAPTURE & PRODUCE OUTSIDE BROADCAST LENSES Bexel Global Broadcast Solutions has bought lenses from Canon for use at upcoming sport, political and entertainment events. Included in the purchase is 2m worth of lenses from the DIGISUPER series. “We play a key role at the most demanding and important events, and the summer of 2016 is going to be a busy one,” said Tom Dickinson, chief technology officer at Bexel. “The complement of lenses we have acquired from Canon will help us to get the high quality images that our clients and their audiences demands.” The purchase includes the DIGISUPER 60, DIGISUPER 80 and the DIGISUPER 95 lenses as well as the specialty Canon HJ18x28 HD EFP lens and “a significant number” of Canon HJ24ex7.5B portable telephoto lenses. The NEP Group has agreed to acquire Broadcast Solutions Group, the Singapore-based outside broadcast flypack provider. The transaction will bring Broadcast Solutions into NEP’s Worldwide Network which includes UK-based OB firm Visions. Broadcast Solutions has offices in India, UAE and the UK. Financial terms were not disclosed. “This acquisition puts us in the leading position in the Asian and Indian markets and enriches our global depth of resources, ensuring we have the best facilities and a highly experienced staff that can cover any project, anywhere in the world,” said Kevin Rabbitt, chief executive of the NEP Group. Following the acquisition, Broadcast Solutions will operate as NEP Broadcast Solutions under the leadership of company founder Saeed Izadi. STUDIOS ITV Studios has extended its agreement with Dock10 to use the MediaCityUK facility’s studios until 2018. The original contract, which was agreed at the start of 2013, has been extended by three years. ITV Studios will use Dock10’s studio space for its “core” MediaCityUK based productions, including Judge Rinder, The Jeremy Kyle Show and Emergency Room (all ITV), Countdown (C4), and University Challenge (BBC), all of which are produced by ITV Studios teams at MediaCityUK. Sally Debonnaire, director of production, ITV Studios said: “Dock10 is an important part of our production at MediaCityUK. The Hong Kong-based firm makes lenses with Sony, Micro Four Thirds and Fujifilm mounts, and a range of apochromatic PL optics. It also develops anamorphic glass and adapters that have similar characteristic to vintage lenses. “Filmmakers with access to a new generation of 4k digital cameras need the highest quality glass,” said Holdan product manager David Morris. “SLR Magic meets that requirement.”
