NEWS MANIPULATE & EDIT LOUDNESS RTW has announced that new software is now available for both its Loudness Tools and Mastering Tools PlugIns. Version 4.0 adds support for Mac OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” and a selectable 12th octave RTA, the implementation of cinema loudness standards (TASA and SAWA), and a freely scalable display. Also in version 4.0 the plugins can be operated as stand-alone versions on both Mac and PC. Andreas Tweitmann, chief executive of RTW, said: “The upgrade to version 4.0 makes our Masterclass PlugIns compatible with more operating systems and increases the functionality for all audio professionals that need to meet certain loudness standards and are concerned about noise control.” CLOUD EDITING Sports broadcaster Lucas Oil Racing TV is using Forbidden Technologies’ Forscene to create fast turnaround edits for its OTT motor racing output. The cloud-based video editing service is being put to work on highlights packages that are distributed both via the Lucas Oil Racing TV website and through Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Nexus Android TV. “Forscene allows us to do more with less,” said Dave Wonser, multimedia director at Lucas Oil Studios. “We can turn around a high-end, professional product in record time, without having to send teams to the events because our content is just a click away. We’ve seen significant growth and support for the platform in the sports sector and were confident that the technology will continue to be an industry leader in the years to come.” EDITING Blackmagic Design has unveiled a free Fusion 8.1 update that adds Fusion Connect for Avid as well as compatibility with the latest Avid Artist DNxIO video interface. The update is available now for both Fusion 8 and Fusion Studio customers, and can be downloaded from the Blackmagic Design website. Previously, Fusion Connect for Avid was only available in Fusion Studio on Windows for $995. Fusion 8.1 is available to both Mac and Windows customers using Media Composer with the Avid Artist DNxIO video interface.
