TESTING & VIDEO ANALYSERS Ahead of IBC Video Clarity (Stand 2.C57) will launch a new colour transfer function for its ClearView line of video quality analysers. ClearView can apply Rec. 2020 appropriately to the different colour formats and colour conversion techniques being considered for high dynamic range (HDR) content. This will allow content providers, broadcasters and encoder manufacturers to compare the quality of HDR source content against its downstream encoded version regardless of which colour space or conversion technique is applied. For ICtCp, the potential replacement for the YCbCr colour space, ClearView can ingest video, record it in either YCbCr or ICtCp, and compare it to encoded versions in either YCbCr or ICtCp for significant changes in quality. Also at the show Video Clarity will demonstrate MultiPlayer, an optional application for Video Clarity ClearView 4k systems, that can automatically and interactively select sequences for side-by-side playback in multiple video formats on up to eight screens at once. MAM At IBC Blue Lucy (stand 7.G07) will put forward its case for the BLAM (Blue Lucy Asset Manager) product and illustrate how it can meet a broad range of business and operational requirements for media production and delivery. BLAM features Google-style search capability supporting Boolean, fuzzy and wildcard searches and includes a Storage Manager and a Workflow Manager. The consultancy and software developer will also show off 30 plugins that can be used to build a customised platform with BLAM. The plugins include one that enables access to all the core asset and workflow management features of BLAM from within the Adobe Premiere Pro editing software and allows for a combined hi-res and low-res workflow. An Amazon Web Services plugin will also be on show. CONTENT MANAGEMENT NETIA (stand 8.C77) will bring a new monitoring tool for its Media Assist software suite to IBC. The extra feature is designed to give radio staff a single interface for managing and optimising multisite workflows. Priority levels can be set on all launched processes to help minimise their impact on bandwidth. Using an API within Media Assist the system can work with various other business and public-facing systems. In a news environment, the NETIA Media Assist software suite acts as a multimedia hub for audio, video, text and images. The cloud- ready system enables radio stations to deploy their back-office applications in a dedicated SAN or host them securely outside the station’s premises.
